You’ll score glimpses of pretty placesettings, richly colored centerpieces, and simple cozy touches for autumn get-togethers and Thanksgiving.
Fall Gatherings, October Tablescapes & Autumn Decor
When the Harvest Becomes the Centerpiece
Don’t forget about vegetation and foraging in the woods when it’s time to create a backdrop for food. Think beyond the fancy flowers. Branches are always in season and in style! Even this simple assemblage will make everyone want to snap photos! Isn’t this fruit punch evocative?
The Power of Amber & Emerald Green
Reminds me of a Vermeer! Can we freeze fresh fruit then float it in a delicious punch? Yes, kittens. Yes, we most certainly can.
Is cheese more your thing? I knew I liked you. Bake brie in a pretty storebought pastry and reserve some dough to cut out fall leaves. Are we all going to now hunt for a moody green marble board? I’ve got your back:
It certainly provides a stunning contrast with the amber pastry oozing with cheesy goodness.
When I consider fall table showstoppers, my thoughts turn to this unforgettable Thanksgiving table a few years back by Helen Norman for Southern Living.
Breathtaking Thanksgiving Tablescape
Remember the breathtaking orange and blue in the dreamiest barn with little lights?
Who an resist the magic resulting from teal and crimson? Such a rich and royal autumnal palette that feels timelessly elegant!
Is anyone else feeling the itch to dash to the antique mall this very moment? Are vendors near you putting out all their pewter and “fall feels” merch?
I just adore this idea of mixing beautiful blue vintage china patterns! How fun to collect pieces all year with various patterns!
As for the beautiful branches with warm orange leaves…don’t forget you can find such treasures on a hike through the park or even near a strip mall…anywhere will do when you keep your eyes peeled for fallen branches. If you don’t live in the country, when you’re out and about, keep looking down!
That said, I know from experience how difficult it is to snip a branch before the leaves turn nasty. Sometimes immersing a branch in very hot water for a few seconds and then plunging into cold will extend freshness.
Rustic Country Organic Inspiration
I fell for Helen Norman’s IG feed where she shares glimpses of her property Star Bright Farm. Here’s a peek at the shop:
Hers is an inspiring relaxed approach to entertaining. She does it right in the garden! Imagine setting up a table for a laidback gathering with friends…
I just love it!
Pomegranate Cornucopia Centerpiece
Velvety pumpkins don’t seem to be falling from favor yet! Everywhere you turn, you see them on an influencer’s mantel. We tend to see less velvety pomegranates. Why should pumpkins have all the fun?
A velvet-lovely pom atop a marigold cloth napkin? Yes, Martha, yes.
It’s all over once I start devouring content from Martha. One gorgeous gathering after the other across seasons, across decades, across millennia! For no good reason (except *ahem* many shall haul out their Christmas trees within eight weeks), a peaceful study of GREEN ELEGANCE:
Can you even with the tone on tone and the coppery warmth of the floor meeting the deliciousness of the green!?!

What I admire most about Jenni Kayne’s arrangement is the tasteful simplicity. Everything she does is magic, and this seems to be easy enough to riff on:
