I don’t mean pride from productivity or increasing curb appeal.
I mean how we’re never quite the same after communing with nature intimately. There’s a profound wisdom, peace, and purity joy flowing where we’re playing a role in the growing.
It’s impossible to be unchanged where buzzing things and blooming things in their beauty and dignity bring us clarity and remind us of the blessing to be alive.

Even though white is dismissed as the safest, duller choice…
It does seem to safely ensure satisfaction and serenity.
I personally find I have quite enough color and spice in my life to energize my nervous system.
I see no reason to voluntarily assault my senses when white so effectively soothes.
The truth is, if you have decided the exterior will have a neutral palette, you’re still left with a fair number of choices for paint colors, mortar, brick, trim, and roof!
Because of the vast number of options for white, beige, putty, and grey within such neutral territory, my inbox is ever singing with questions and pleas for help.
This was the first home we built, and it was a challenge locating pale brick that we loved enough to leave as is without painting it:
