We have been gathering lakeside cottage resources for paint colors, furniture, and decorating items inspired by a Palmetto Bluff property (Lisa Furey Interiors). Part 1 is right here. In many cases, we know the exact colors and pieces selected. We’ll also consider a wealth of possibilities to get the look while creating something uniquely you.

Lovely Lakeside Cottage Get the Look: Part 2
From the real estate listing when the property was marketed: “Expertly sited to take advantage of the views of lake, park and conservation area, this charming compound was created with special attention to all details…A separate carriage house includes a second floor bunk room, kitchenette, and a deck overlooking the lake.”

I remain intrigued by the idea of three separate small structures adding up to 3,000 square feet, aren’t you?

This lakeside cottage beauty has 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms with 3,100 square feet on .5 acre.
So many folks these days are interested in multi-generational living as well as inheritable homes. The project proves one could create lovely lake house enclave with privacy on just half of an acre.
Psst. If you are all thinks #lakelife, #coastalgrandfather, or #coastalgranny, you just may be smitten with Jenni Kayne Home:

Let’s continue an amazing tour where you’ll learn resources to get the look with furniture, light fixtures and decor.

A White Paint Color Can Play a Starring Role
And here’s the beautiful navy used for a number of accents in the home.
Keep Your Lakeside Cottage Classic Not Kitschy
If you’re after an enduring look that isn’t going to look out of place in a decade, the key is to keep your coastal quite classic, not kitschy!

The designer called the style of this home “modern farmhouse meets coastal cottage,” but we can’t get too hung up on labels.
Many of us picture a particular “modern farmhouse look” when we hear the term.
We could just as easily refer to this project as lowcountry charm or barefoot chic paradise.
BTW…do you need your own mini board and batten beachy chic cottage from a kit?
Because this kit is just the cutest and set my imagination running!

Just a few ideas for patio furniture:
While these aren’t the chairs on the deck, they might feel right at home there.

Lakeside Cottage Kitchen Resources
This Lisa Furey designed kitchen has a mix of design elements that live large in a relatively small footprint.

What makes it sing?
White Shiplap Everywhere
Ever seen a taller shiplap-wrapped range hood? Wow! And ceilings are covered with the material as well.

What keeps it from feeling too busy or stuck in a particular design era?

The white color story calms it, and it becomes quite necessary for texture and interest.

Shiplap also keeps the mood in casual territory. There isn’t anything fancy or showoffy happening here. Even the style of the cabinets stays humble with Shaker design and subtle hardware.
Kitchen Backsplash Tile
The backsplash tile is sort of a showstopper, handmade with such a classic timeless design. Here’s a detailed closer look:
Isn’t that color story gorgeous? You can see how a single tile you adore can inspire a whole palette for a home, yes?

Kitchen Faucet Details
I’m also struck by how gentle this kitchen feels in spite of it being a working kitchen decked out with appliances. When the broad strokes are subtle, there’s room for smaller ones to shine. For example…

Isn’t that stunning? Such an Old World feel. A farm sink is another way to add instant age, nostalgia, and old fashioned charm.
By the way, these beautiful basins do so much more than simply look good. I am a real cook/baker who does a ton of dishes and prep work. The depth, durability and beauty of these fireclay sinks are qualities I appreciate since they elevate my everyday.

With this perspective (ABOVE) I’m struck by how symmetry brings balance and beauty. I’m also noticing how much the cabinetry feels like furniture!
The paneled frig also helps keep the mood soothing and less utilitarian.

Curious about the paint color on the island?
It could be stunning on all of the cabinetry as well.
Kitchen Lighting Options
Do you find these library wall sconces a bit unexpected?
They usher in both ambiance and task light:

They also contrast sharply with all of the white–an effect I am rarely seeking since my personal preference is gentle contrasts everywhere.

Just like that we ran out of space (and blogger energy!) and will pick up this discussion in Part 3! Start with part one here.
Peace to you right where you are.
