I’m ready to check into this amazing upstate New York airbnb in a fabulous location! What a charming mix of rustic Swedish country antiques and sensibilities await inside this barn conversion. Let’s peek at the inspiring property and dream a little.
Rustic Swedish Country Hudson Valley Barn Conversion
Homeowner: Gun Nowak of FACE Stockholm; Photos: Country Living (Annie Schlechter); Airbnb
The Barn is a renovated space with an open sleeping loft, and beautiful floor-to-ceiling views overlooking the Catskill Mountains.
Upstate New York Old Barn With New Life
If you have traveled to the area, then you know! I was fortunate enough to enjoy the Hudson Valley for vacation and a writer’s workshop a couple of years ago.
Published in several interior magazines including Country Living and AirBnB Magazine, this amazing guest house is full of light.
What fun to explore 14 acres of open fields, walking paths, and also a garden with mature trees.
There is a private swimmable pond, and notice the glorious landscape:
The Barn has central air, a kitchenette and a deluxe bathtub. (I am thinking of adding a similar shower curtain arrangement to our antique tub for cozy von cozy):
Do you admire the pale gray painted floors as I do?
Where is This Rustic Swedish Country Getaway?
This true Hudson Valley escape is only two hours from NYC, and historic details such as these remain intact:
New windows added in the renovation allow the scenery to be all the art and interest one could need.
Isn’t it magical with its Scandinavian-inspired design elements and airy loft-like feel?
The owner’s (Gun Nowak) antiques add a layer of chic elegance and elevate the whole experience.
The property is said to be just right for two guests.
There are two queen beds located right next to each other up on the loft.
(The vacation listing indicates there is no privacy so the guest house is intended for one couple only).
Modern Country Style With Nordic Charm
I think the kitchenette (equipped for basic cooking) may be my favorite part of the renovation! Notice how no space was wasted or walled off in this lovely airy space:
And I love that I can’t see a monstrous refrigerator anywhere! It’s all floating, ethereal, and pure Nordic understated genius.
Imagine waking up to those views…
Are you also thinking about visiting?
The Barn is located in the hamlet of Germantown, five minutes from Main Street.
Germantown has James Beard nominated Gaskins restaurant, Otto’s Market for groceries, and a handful of independently owned shops.
All I can say is WELL DONE, GUN NOWAK AND TEAM!
If you have a moment to tour a different style home that is full of rustic elegant ideas for living with antiques and mixing in new…
Peace to you right where you are.
