If you have enjoyed the show on HGTV, then you already know. Chicago’s Alison Victoria is a passionate creative dynamo with gorgeous European inspired style. I am catching up on episodes of season three today, and while it was inspiring to watch the redesign of a 1922 condo located on a favorite Chicago street…good gracious, she proceeded to outdo herself creating a 7-figure new build with Old World style (and an atrium!). AV’s passion for restoration, renovation, and masterfully mixing antiques with new is refreshing. This collection of glimpses will inspire and honors an incredible designer in my neck of the woods: Alison Victoria.
HGTV’s Alison Victoria
I’m crazy about this designer’s style and honor her relentless pursuit of beauty as she creates modern French and European inspired luxe interiors for clients across the country. For the kitchen renovation below, a young family relocating to Chicago from Boston trusted her to reimagine a 1912 home for modern living.
It was soooo heartwarming to see their reaction at the reveal. What is uncommon about seeing Alison on the screen across months of renovation work is how she openly shares the pitfalls. There are always snags, and as a real life renovator myself, it’s refreshing that the hiccups and heartache are not omitted.

What an amazing transformation of a two-bedroom loft! Have you ever seen a custom range hood with an artistic paneled front like this one?
The color palette in this home is consistent with what the designer favors.
Towering custom built-ins and banquette are cozy features in an open concept, flooded with light first floor.
Alison joyfully hunts for the perfect pieces for each property she designs, empowering the rest of us to re-use, reimagine, and re-purpose items from the past.
Favorite Modern French Design Elements She Repeats
You can’t miss Alison’s fondness for gilded everything!
Whether it is high end lighting or custom range hoods, she often brings gold into the mix.
A restrained color palette is also one of her signature looks.
Black, white, gold, and natural wood tones interpreted in a modern luxe way feel timeless and bespoke.
The art and decorative objects are often modern, offering a more interesting juxtaposition with vintage finds.
A Passion for One of a Kind Creations
Whether she is renovating an interior for herself or clients, there are always bespoke design elements worked into the plan.
It’s not simply custom cabinetry or new range hood construction either!
Victoria often designs new pieces incorporating antiques in order to bring instant age, soul, and character to elevate a space.
A single episode of her show on HGTV is an education for renovators, decorators, and design lovers who hope to have the rustic/refined mystique demystified.
More Luxurious Renovation Moments to Inspire
Who doesn’t love a secret room or storage that looks this amazing under the stairs?
Vintage pieces and imaginative design are also weaved into utilitarian spaces like closets.
What a bold, fantasy, luxurious escape that appears to be the size of some Paris apartments!
Black? Check. Something gilded? Oh yeah. Repurposed antique that brings function as well as a surprise? And howwwwww.
Modern French Luxe Style in Her Own Home
Although she has moved on from this Chicago property, what a gem she created!

They are actually vinyl waterproof rigid planks (LVP) from XRP. Unsure of exact color, but an oak look with character (knots). A similar LVP look for which I have experience is this one: https://rstyle.me/+1nUZKdfQ37WihizQVPJ6jQ
