These ideas for Country French and French farmhouse interior paint colors are inspired by those chosen by Charlotte Reiss of Vivi et Margot (my favorite source for French homewares). She chose Farrow & Ball colors for her farmhouse near Bordeaux which will soon become home to a new family. (Charlotte and family are renovating their new property in Provence.) What is especially helpful about knowing the names of these colors is to note how they work harmoniously. If you’re seeking a color palette to capture a romantic country French inspired look, try samples of these suggestions!

French Farmhouse Interior Paint Color Ideas
Paint Colors in This French Kitchen
This is what the home’s putty colored kitchen cabinets looked like originally. They were later painted green.
Here’s the exact paint color, and if this European color is unavailable to you in the US, I can offer some comparable color ideas.

Here’s a similar color, and try to not to judge the swatch as it looks here or even under the fluorescents in a big box store. Rather, sample it to see it in your own space.
Here’s another possibility that I have used personally. It is a very earthy, natural, limestone like hue that works well with natural linen.
Interior Wall Color: Farrow & Ball Strong White
If you’re after a greyed-white or white with gray undertones, here’s a color that may work for you.
Strong White has cool undertones but doesn’t feel chilly:

For a soothing color that is a bit unexpected for beams which are often stained or painted white…
French Gray looks sophisticated and provides contrast with white walls.

Paint Color for Girls’ Bathroom: FARROW & BALL Middleton Pink
For a romantic, feminine, sweet color for a bath:
If you are more of a fan of neutral colors, pink may not be on your radar.
However, a powder room or bathroom is a great place to take a risk with a color to which you’re drawn.
It’s only paint after all!

Charlotte often uses pink in subtle ways at the farmhouse. Here we see a muted blush pink check in the kitchen:

French Inspired Exterior Paint Color Ideas
Charlotte shared that the color of the shutters are a popular color for French homes known as Tollens Vert Olivier.
