Whether you favor a laid back beachy look with a white cotton slipcover or elegant Belgian linen, a comfy lovely white sofa can become a backdrop for miles of timeless style. Since I am ever posting furniture and decor to inspire, I feel as though I know the white sofas across the web INTIMATELY! Today they felt like hanging out together in one place, and who am I to argue? Behold Beautiful White Sofas for Living Room Inspiration.
Beautiful White Sofas for Living Room Inspiration
I think you already know about the sofa in my own living room since we have had it for a dozen years. It’s a Belgian Track Arm Sofa from Restoration Hardware (Belgian Linen in the color sand). Although it is considered RH’s “classic depth” of 37″, it is DEEP like this blogger! If I buy another one, I’m springing for a more petite depth.
Pretty White Sofas to Inspire
My Own Linen Sofa
Ha! The truth is, I enjoy lounging around in undone, spare, underbaked, and understated spaces more than growing bored with patterns, prints and fussy window coverings.
Keep the Sofa Neutral
Which brings us to why a beautiful sofa is such a lovely prospect. It is a wonderful base for a tone on tone room yet can be equally smart for layering with color and texture.
Lord have mercy if I only had a dolla for every person who has ever asked me about living with white! Here’s my deal:
We have not owned shedding pets so I can’t speak to that issue. I don’t fret about white fabrics because I mean, really, what is the worst that can happen? White comes clean with a little dish soap and H20, and even red wine (it’s grown kids who pose a slight threat to white, not toddlers!) has not permanently stained our Belgian linen. I personally don’t feel we make any trade-offs living with white. I love it. It is mood lifting and perfect for dreamer types. It imparts a calm and gentleness I long for; it’s a balm for what is not so calm beyond home.

I love this post! Thank you for sharing! Could you tell me about the linen iron bed behind the cottage sofa #6? I have been looking for an iron bed like this for a long time! Thank you!

Thanks so much for reading! Sure – it’s the Aberdeen bed at Pottery Barn, and you can get it in a couple of configurations, with and without a canopy. Here are the links: Without canopy is right here: https://rstyle.me/+OPqA3PKfXnAzRrXd–d67A and with canopy is right here: https://rstyle.me/+nR_B0Z5Vos1CxPJUtlx4EQ Hope this helps and you find what you need. 🙂
Oh my word – not only did you capture my heart with “white” but #6 has stolen it! LOVE

Hahahaha. Gotcha! It’s a sweet sofa for sure. 🙂
with white you never can go wrong and it is perfect to add any color . Have white sofas all the last decades and never get bored but in the last month I contemplate with a dark green or rusty hue in velvet. Will see if I’m brave enough for a change.

Yes – keep us posted if you get wild! I’m afraid I would change my mind in like two weeks if after I strayed from my favorite white! 🙂

Exactly! I think folks think if they spill something once on white, it’s the end of the world. If they only knew how many times I have spot cleaned and how well white holds up! 🙂
Oh, I feel bad. You did not include my beautiful white soap and water cleanable Swedish sofa.
Can I be number 21?
I’ve written at least two pages to people worried about living with white upholstery. Or an all white room.
I have found that men have more fear than women. I’ve watched men come into a white room and refuse to sit down. They go outside to the patio or hang in the hallway until I tell them that all my white furniture and linens are soap and water cleanable. Relax. I’ve used white upholstery for over 30 years and my furniture looks like it is new.
For my shedding black cat, I just put down a white bath towel on the sofa for his nap which is thrown in the washing machine every few days. On kids, there is a difference between destructible behavior and just messes on the sofa and chairs. The only thing I had trouble getting out was black paint but it eventually came out. Rare occasion. Stop worrying and live with beautiful white interiors. Life is short. Soap and water is cheap.

Your white sofa is in a league of its own and deserves its own post – let’s do it! Are you up for a SWEDE post? I love your philosophies, and I have also lived with white for enough decades that you can’t talk me out of it. Are other people sitting down on their “more forgiving” sofas with a whole chocolate cake or sloshing red wine around on them? Not that we haven’t sloshed some on ours – it all cleans up! So let’s make a plan for your post, friend!
These are just some amazing furniture pieces! Thanks for sharing
