No matter how frightening the weather outside may be right now, what a breath of fresh air and serenity a beautiful home tour can bring! These Cotswold Cottage Interiors inspire with their 17th Century architecture, French and Swedish antiques, and raw authenticity thanks to the talented homeowners and proprietors at Anton & K. Let’s peek inside and absorb lessons in living with charming Old World English country style.
Cotswold Cottage Interiors: How to Live With French & Swedish Antiques
Mix Antiques With Modern Architecture
How to open up a 17th century cottage to the beautiful outdoors?
Wide and modern accordion-style doors blur the boundaries and bring in the sunshine!
Keep the Palette Quiet & Tranquil
Are the whispery pale colors speaking to you? Mmmmmmmm…see these too.
I have always admired painted wood floors for their simplicity! Why not walk on clouds if you have the choice?
And isn’t the finish on the wood flooring (above) magic with its bleached, raw, limed look?
Live With Less for a Rich Look
Are you surprised that antique dealers live in a cottage decorated with this spare, serene, airy look?
They believe it is better to live with empty spaces until the right piece surfaces. And surely their home is proof positive all that breathing room can be lovely!
Be Not Afraid of Painted Everything
Rusticity is beautifully softened with liberal use of paint and plaster. (And notice the shallow window seat…don’t forget it is more than okay to customize these to suit your space!).
Pale Limestone Provides a Stunning Backdrop
What a bonus when your home boasts a material that only improves with age!
Play With Scale
Are you admiring all of the huge antique pots and over-sized urns? Such drama is added with statement pieces collected over time.
A Mix of Creamy Whites Can Sing
These designers truly understand the art of mixing white, putty, cream, linen, and stone hues.
There’s such a synchronicity with these Cotswold cottage interiors and exterior spaces.
While the tone on tone color story is understated, texture from aged wood, smooth glass, and sumptuous linen contributes interest and cozy factor.
I mean there’s texture, and then there’s TEXTURE:
Unfitted Kitchens Become Living Rooms
Is your eye becoming accustomed to kitchens without wall to wall cabinets? Because it certainly seems to be growing more common every day to see such kitchen design beyond Europe.
When your collected antiques can LIVE large and function beautifully, daily living is enhanced and elevated.
Less is Truly More
Antique lovers need not live in spaces that resemble a dusty shop packed to the gills with remnants of the past! What breathing room emerges with a light hand!
Pssst. I am swamped with packing and moving and renovating so I’m not sure there will be time for composing a post about Valentine’s Day goodies, but might I suggest comfy cozy soft gifts to help you and your val-pal rest?

Absolutely love this home and many items on their website. I especially noticed the wide floor boards. Will put those in my next home for sure. Wouldn’t you like to have a second home in the country like that? Very talented couple.

I sure would. Our new house does not have those wide plank floors – they are actually skinny little ordinary red oak planks, but we’re going to work with them. I do love the color of those floors though!
Love everything about this home!! Mmmmmm! My kitchen light fixture is very similar to the ones used here which makes me happy as I love the look of these she chose. I also need to bring out all my collected larger seashells/coral to display as she did …the colors are perfect! And …I need to collect some very large rustic urns! I’ve been wondering what to put in front of our stone wall (which is the back of our stone fireplace) when you walk in our front door?? NOW I know… a single very large vintage urn! Less truly is always more and this home proves it!! Thanks for sharing continued inspiration to keep it simple stupid! Haha! I have a small load in my car as I write this to take to the consignment store today!! Clearing out like you🤗even though not moving! FEELS SO GOOD!

Yay! It’s decluttering season, and for me, it will continue for a few months. I couldn’t get rid of everything since we have plenty of rooms to put together still. But I’m thinking clear the decks in a few months so we’re not storing so much excess! 🙂 Thanks for reading, friend!
This Cotswold cottage is fab! Just my style and the style I am creating. Pity they didn’t have an open house day. I would love a visit.
