I am not much of a TV watcher or even a movie buff, but if there’s a beautiful set design or house serving as the backdrop? My attention span suddenly expands. Our inspiration room to recreate today comes from a set design from Grace and Frankie. Robert and Sol’s Kitchen is a handsome eclectic space with sophisticated greys and historical nods as well as classic style. We’re revisiting this post since so many of you continue to crush on the kitchen design. (It’s no easy task sourcing design elements to sing together as harmoniously as what we see in the TV couple’s Cali home!) Let’s deconstruct and have fun exploring how to GET THE LOOK.
Devorah Herbert designed the beautiful environments on the set of the Netflix hit Grace and Frankie, and the furnishings we see aren’t simply hollow props. Such authenticity elevates the style factor and means a fair share of viewers show up not just to smile, but to feast on the design eye candy.

Rustic Wood Ceiling Beams
Whether you choose to install real wood beams or opt for faux (they’re much lighter, easier to install and may be a wise choice), they add so much handsome charm.
Spanish Tile in Robert & Sol’s Kitchen
The tile for the kitchen floor is a handpainted 8×8 encaustic Badajoz 912 B tile from Granada Tile. Actress Brooklyn Decker (who plays Mallory in Grace and Frankie) told AD she loves it so much, she used it in her own home.
Cabinet Paint Color: Robert & Sol’s Kitchen
What is the paint color on the cabinets? I’m crazy about the color of Robert and Sol’s kitchen cabinets because it is one of those sophisticated, more mysterious hues. Maybe you see a slate-blue-charcoal grey, but it’s also pewter-like. There are green and blue undertones, and for me, it even has a cosmic quality. If you love moody shades of deep teal, you’re probably a fan of this shade too.
Here are four paint color contenders to consider, and you should definitely try multiple samples to see them in your own space before pulling the trigger. Shipping is free for up to 8 samples so you can’t go wrong!

Warm White Walls: Paint Color Ideas
The Range: La Cornue CornuFé 90 Albertine
This dreamy and compact La Cornue Albertine model is named for the French company’s founder and his wife, Albert and Alexandrine Dupuy. What color La Cornue would you choose for your own dream kitchen?
Here’s another option for a dreamy black range:
Kitchen Countertops in Sol & Robert’s House
The kitchen island is topped with a richly stained wood and probably sealed with a marine sealer for protection. The warmth of wood is repeated in counter stools, the center section of glass front cabinetry (on the wall opposite the frig) used for display, and for trim on windows flanking the range.
Peripheral countertops appear to be polished Calacatta marble.
Kitchen Backsplash
The softest, most beautiful whispery light grey subway tile with off white grout in this couple’s kitchen would be gorgeous in any kitchen or bath! I love that they are not itty bitty tiles (which would means more grout).
Here is a 4×8 ceramic tile and a 4×12 tile if you’re after a similar look.
Pendant Lighting Over Island
Love the vintage inspired and slightly industrial look of the pendant ceiling lights in this kitchen?
They appear to be Hood Classic Pendants, and Rejuvenation offers various finishes and the ability to customize. The Hood is a reproduction of a factory light made in 1915, and I’m partial to the burnished antique and unlaquered brass finishes.
This aged brass Hudson Valley Pendant would also be beautiful.
Antique Brass Hardware: Cup Pulls
My favorite maker of cabinet hardware is Top Knobs, and you’ll find yummy possibilities HERE. There are gorgeous similar cup pulls at Pottery Barn, Amazon, and even Etsy.
Gold Tone Kitchen Faucet
Here’s a good looking Oletto single lever kitchen faucet with pull down sprayer from Kraus. The finish is called Brushed Gold.
Soft Linen Roman Shades
Window coverings in the Grace & Frankie kitchen are likely custom, but Pottery Barn offers lovely readymade options.
Their Riviera Stripe Cordless Roman Shade comes in Charcoal, Red, Blue, Navy, and Sandalwood.
Tea Kettle
Hmmmm. Would Robert and Sol splurge on this kitchen essential? Here’s a pricey Simplex Buckingham Chrome Rapid Boil Tea Kettle (not your everyday kettle since it is heirloom quality and made of copper).
For a fraction of the cost, THIS KETTLE also looks promising.
Wood Kitchen Counter Stools
For a wallet-friendly option, this wood stool (sold in pairs) is around $50.
At a much higher price point, One King’s Lane offers this handsome Balboa Counter Stool (Hazelnut)

Ooooh – sounds like a great job for this detective – I’ll have to watch some scenes and try to hunt it down. 🙂 I’ll circle back if I can find the answer.
Oooh it looks like these ones that you can usually find at Costco or tj maxx that come in plastic bottles but they have super cute prints on them that almost looks Tuscan or Mediterranean 🙂
It looks like La Tasse is the brand. It’s hard for me to tell though in the image bc it’s sort of blurry and small.
Hello! In Robert and Sol’s kitchen. They’re salad bowls, coffee cups and other dinner wear. White with a floral pattern. Can you tell me what it was please? I love it.
Thank you
