We have explored the inspiring timeless design of Jeffrey Dungan before. Yet every time I engage with images of this artist’s work or commentary from his book, I discover fresh territory. Herein lies the beauty of timelessness. For it is indeed more spiral-like than linear, more fluid than static. Jeffrey Dungan Architecture: How Authenticity and Awe Create Timeless Soul is destined to evoke wonder with realms of natural beauty reverently in relationship with quality craftsmanship.
Jeffrey Dungan Architecture: How Authenticity and Awe Create Timeless Soul
One cannot help but feel reverence considering the devotion to natural materials (this artist appreciates the nobility of trees!) as well as thoughtful attention paid to light in Dungan’s creations.

Authenticity is also inherent in the architect’s projects and glimmers as a diamond resting in its natural habitat rather than perched in a setting.

Timeless Kitchen Design

To say I’m taken with the kitchen below is an understatement. Indeed it is having its way with my imagination in satisfyingly wonderful ways as great design always does!

Would you, could you spend endless hours with a friend, with a book, with a delicious meal in a space such as the nook below?

What happens when the same attention to architecture inside is applied outdoors? Magical moments such as these:

Architecture’s Interaction With Light
As I type this, the January light streaming through unadorned windows at home bids me to notice its beauty.
When timeless design, impeccable finishes, and masterful planning join with nature’s gifts and light, a house can become a work of interactive art to thrill and fill the senses through the seasons.

Handsome Interiors
What makes a space handsome? Rugged materials like gorgeous wood are certainly a good start. In addition to standing the test of time, they also develop patina to become more beautiful!

The Wonder of Windows
As I consider a kitchen like the one below in a lake house, I’m struck by how we mostly live with functional kitchens lacking imagination.
While I’m not advocating second mortgages or going bankrupt…what if we began to more fully embrace the potential for beautiful LIVING in this space in which we spend so much time?
What if we gazed beyond runs of cabinet storage and more thoughtfully considered the quality of light? How might daily life be transformed?

Serenity & Whispered Beauty

Not all of Jeffrey Dungan’s projects are sprawling structures…remember this tiny house he designed!?!
And notice the cozy size of the kitchen below:

Oh the timelessness and the divinity in all of those natural materials which will live on and weather so beautifully. I’m simply in awe and am so happy you found solace in these projects and thoughts. Happy Tuesday, Connie. xox
I love Jeffrey Dungan…one of my all-time favorites & a fellow Alabamian!😁 I love everything he does, his philosophy, his emphasis on the beauty of nature and how that influences his designs, his simplicity. And I love all the inspiring quotes he accompanies each of his awe-inspiring pics with on his instagram. They are as much fun to read as his pics are to admire! I especially enjoyed hearing his thoughts on the video! I love how he said he designs environments…that he is after creating an experience people who go there will enjoy & remember. That’s what I’d want folks to remember about my home…the environment/experience not just the decor of the house itself. Thanks for this reminder of his incredible work. And I thoroughly enjoyed the nature quotes by John Muir! It is one of my biggest blessings in life to live the second of it on a mountain surrounded by God’s creation after living the first half conveniently in town. Both have wonderful advantages, but I completely concur with Muir that…spending time in the woods – washes your spirit clean & that being surrounded by nature can heal and give strength to body & soul! Thanks for another inspiring/encouraging post, Michele!!

Your words of beauty have filled up my senses in a similar way that living in the woods does! What a blessing to live on a mountain with so much beauty and aliveness to remind you of God’s hand in it all. We need nature so badly these days to keep us anchored to truth and point us toward that which is eternal. Jeffrey Dungan creates these living works of art that for me are on the level of sacred cathedrals. They invite reverence not because of monetary value but because of the spirit of devotion and commitment paid to them. Anyone who spends so much time thinking about light and trees surely has discovered sources of enlightenment – how could you not? xox
Thank you for the lovely post! I long for trees and light and gardens and wildflowers, blue skies and flowing water. I find refreshment in my back yard in summer and in the winter sit in the window longing to find what is beneath the snow and ice. It so helps my mood when I take the time to put on the warm boots and Yak Tracks, the down coat, scarf and mittens and force myself out into the woods near me. (My favorite mittens and warmest are like Bernie’s)

Ahhhhh – love this imagery your lovely words have conjured and the longing for all the tightly held buds to eventually open. Yes! I am with you. And you are persuading me to venture out into the snow globe that is my world today. If only for a few minutes! Peace to you, and thank you for adding beauty here.
