The other day, the spotlight shined on Houston where we explored Old World New Builds. Today, we’ll travel to the UK for Classic English Townhouse: Georgian Style + Imperfect Interiors.

We will also consider ideas of wabi sabi since this philosophy relates to the approach the designer favors.

This beautifully serene home for a family of five is graced with elegant interior design by Imperfect Interiors. Designer Beth Dadswell combined beautiful antiques with contemporary furniture to masterfully mix a wonderful collection of art as well as family heirlooms.

Georgian Townhouse – Project Overview

This beautiful historic townhouse in the UK certainly looks picture perfect now. However, it was in need of serious design attention.

Rotted casement windows were replaced with historically correct wooden versions.

Floors were also stripped and stained. Ceiling roses were reinstated as well as wiring which was updated.

Soulful Design

Oh this image below…is it the stoneware collection? Narrow windows or charming hardware? Zellige tiled backsplash and minimal modern faucet? Warm gray painted cabinets? Lovely WABI SABI goodness is certainly reigning here!

The designer is skilled in the interplay of light and tranquility as well as the balance of high and low. In her own words, she describes her approach to designing interiors.

Georgian style is associated with classicism and popular styles during the period of history spanning 1714-1830. Geometry, symmetry, and also proportion are architectural buzzwords for the style which spread to the New World.

These airy livable spaces feel comforting as well as understated in their simple sophistication. However, as a real life renovator, I can tell you hundreds of details go into “simplicity!”
