Urban Farmgirl is my favorite local small business, and I have been shopping their wonderful country, rustic and farmhouse homewares since they opened. You may recall my posts covering Main Street Market which was the brainchild of THE urban farmgirl and shop’s owner, Mary. Hello Lovely Small Business: Urban Farmgirl will introduce you to a few of their lovely finds you can score online.

Hello Lovely Small Business: Urban Farmgirl
What you see above is Urban Farmgirl’s founder, Mary, in front of the Rockford store. Since the shop is a house in the middle of a residential neighborhood, a lot of folks assume it was converted into commercial use.
However, it was formerly the neighborhood grocery store! Isn’t that heartwarming?
My friend E. and I posed on the vintage truck in front of the shop at Christmas time. And we decked E’s house with more Christmas bells than I can say! (That red welcome mat came home with me too!).
Shoppers visit UF from all around the country, and the farmhouse trend seems not to be going anywhere. (Although marketers like Wayfair are pushing more ‘industrial farmhouse’ style now.)
Urban Farmgirl’s brick and mortar shop is open two weekends a month, each time stocked with fresh goods, furniture & displays.
You’ll find offerings from local artists, gifts and decor you’ll only find here, and the best help from friendly, design savvy staff. Visit them in Rockford, IL at 2202 Rural Street.
Everything you see here is available from Urban Farmgirl online!!! So shop and support this amazing small business!
Mary and her incredible staff (I’m speaking from firstand experience, friends!) freshly re-stock and re-style Urban Farmgirl’s shop all the time. It’s a wonderland with smiles around every corner.
Farmhouse Decor & Gifts for Home
The expert curation at the shop means you’ll find smart decor you won’t find anywhere else.
For example, textual art and signage are still wildly popular decor items, but Urban Farmgirl always has the best selection from local artists and clever makers!
Urban Farmgirl’s Main Street Market
If you have the chance to shop the market (in May and September) at the Boone County Fairgrounds, you won’t regret it! I haven’t missed a single market since its inception so look for me!

Wonderful Books to Get the Look
This first suggestion, City Farmhouse Style by Kim Leggett is perfect for vintage and antique lovers. I was fortunate enough to vacation last year in a fairy tale of a cottage with interior design by Kim Leggett, and it truly was a dream!
This book by Nora Murphy is one I couldn’t put down, and I told you all about it HERE.
She has so much more than shiplap to offer us!
If cozy, white, and cottage are buzzwords for you…

it’s our all responsibility to support these little shops who struggle a lot at this time. As I buy usually in groceries and that other kind of small shops it is not possible now because they are all closed due restrictions in EU. Though glad Supermarkets are still open . Stay safe

Thanks for echoing this important reminder – it is difficult enough for small businesses to succeed without any pandemic. Staying safe and keeping others safe by remaining at home.
