SERIOUS upheaval, corruption, revolution, system dismantling, atrocity, and violent horror around the globe remain UNLAUGHABLE. I am not a silent bystander: under a rock, looking away, tone deaf, insensitive, or ignorant. I’m feeling it all to my bones and agonizing. AND. I keep showing up to my work: an interiors-related small business to pay bills such as health insurance…American healthcare, now there’s a bright spot! Wait. What? I need absurd quotes and laughter as medicine big time, but I understand if you prefer to skip giggles or bargains. Check out archives for eclectic inspo instead!

Whimsical Quotes & Bargain Homewares
First things first. Those rare sales at SEPHORA. Maybe the time is ripe to try assorted enhanced skin goop on your radar. In most cases, you can return what doesn’t work.

So Many Amazing Brands on Wayfair
I was late to the party which is shopping Wayfair for home. It was too many cringeworthy TV commercials that alienated me and sunk into tasteless territory. How could their offerings be that swell if the advertising’s taste level was so low? (Customers in these commercials always appeared dim-witted, shallow, and compelled to dance badly.) Cringe factor aside, turns out there are a fair number of quality makers in their family of brands.

Notwithstanding badly written jingles, odd ice cream truck psychedelic themes, and awful choreography (only outdone by Big Pharma’s Broadway of painful flashmob dance numbers), Wayfair offers a ton of lovely options. (Pine Cone Hill? Schumacher? Hooker?).

I found these for our former home:

Laughing and Weeping
What is saving you right now? A sense of humor helps, but I am (as always!) immersed in soul work and spiritual journeying. Every season is the right season to adjust the lens and notice the level of consciousness from which I’m viewing life. The bad news is I can only change me…good news is everything around me then changes too.

Spiritual awakening is one thing, but spiritual maturity? That takes work, baby!

By work, I mean serious slowing down for meditation, stillness, quiet, and deep listening with God. My spiritual container is contemplative Christianity so I am ever looking to examples of Jesus’ wisdom, simplicity, and radical love. I’m an accidental modern day mystic reaching for divine grace by way of prayer and cries for mercy. I am seeking strength and power to become the healing and change I want to see on the planet. It’s not a self-improvement plan as much as a soul liberation quest.

All the while, a part of me longs to retreat to a cave like an ancient desert mother to preserve and protect contemplative traditions. Another part of me longs for belonging to a community and the gritty realness of fleshy human interaction. But mostly I am bid to be a vessel for grace to move through. Some days my supply of hope is very low, and I work out a bunch of this uncertainty at the piano. My desire to grow in faith is in ample supply and ever growing. Surely these are seeds of hope!
Stuff on Sale You May Require
Any windows to address? I purchased these for several rooms and still need more for our bedroom:
If you are nervous about measuring for ready-made treatments, don’t sweat it. Even though it can be tricky at times, returns are easy these days!
Bath Vanity Set Shopping
We recently bought this vanity set from Wayfair for a bath we are adding to our lower level.

The under $300 price with fast free shipping was definitely right, but if you tap the image and see more of the photos of the vanity, you’ll notice the innovative storage inside. So many times the interior of the cabinet is overlooked, and I liked the organization. For a secondary bath like the one we’re constructing, it is okay that the cabinet is not solid wood or high end. Here are more options:
Wouldn’t the green be cheerful and a fun way to begin a bath re-do? This one is very similar to one we had in bath at our prior home. Remember you can always find an in-stock off the shelf real marble top with sink if you don’t love what comes with these sets:
Is classic and blue for you?
Update For a Powder Room
We added this gold-toned faucet to our powder room’s pedestal sink:
I love the Old World style of this:
We always seem to need new towels and bath mats – why is it that a visit from in-laws or a move will magnify how threadbare all your linens are?
Is there somewhere your space might be brightened with sconces?

Carrera Marble Tile
I’m looking for marble tile for a backsplash in the bath I mentioned. Here’s the tile we almost went with for our primary’s bath:
Honeycomb tile is so classic and timeless and feels homey. Since we bought our very first 1920s house in Chicago, we are smitten with honeycomb.
Not that there’s anything wrong with basketweave carrera! The price is gorgeous too:
Here’s the mosaic tile we went with for the bath and shower floor in our master:
We never tire of this pattern, and you may recall that as I chronicled our renovation in 2015, This Old House pinned our shower floor, and it went cray cray viral! I was new to social media and could not comprehend how an under-construction shower floor could end up on every bathroom Pinterest board on earth like it did.

Here’s another marble tile for a shower or bath:
Wouldn’t it be amazing in a bath, shower floor, or backsplash behind a range in the right kitchen?
Tables With a Marble Top
Last year I sold our round dining table and moved our harvest table into the breakfast area. Some days I love the change and others I miss the round shape.
In the market?

Table Lamps With Marble
These caught my eye since so many of us are still adding touches of gold to our interiors.
I was recently on the hunt for marble bedside lamps, and they are pricey now. Sometimes a ceramic lamp base can give you the same feel of marble for a fraction of the price.

Rugs & Floor Mats
This rug below has muted neutral tones and a low price. Seems like it could be just right as an accent in a range of different bedrooms even though it’s not gonna be thick and sumptuous.
Always on the lookout for cordless lamps…this one from Wayfair caught my eye. There are plenty of situations where you want to avoid an ugly cord.

Never met a pharmacy lamp I didn’t love. My parents loved ’em so they remind me of home:
Psst. Shopping for homewares and DIY renovation supplies means deliveries. All of the deliveries can become a massive cardboard mountain rising to the limits in the garage in certain seasons. My husband and I love recycling pickup day!

Worth a watch!
Keep the faith, kittens. I’m praying for us.
Peace to you right where you are.
