Is this going to be the part of the post where I list 10 easy ways to add warmth and charm to your white kitchen?
Absolutely not. I’m not one of those ‘pops of color’ kind of cats who decorates with insecurities about what visitors to my home might think about my restraint.
Extensive Experience With White Kitchens
It’s not just my age or experience that contribute to my confidence about living with white and decor choices.
I listen to my intuition and design for us and how we want to feel at home rather than for imaginary visitors with judgment.
Everyone indeed does judge, and some may even pass judgment, but those thoughts don’t belong to me and need not concern me. You live and learn and stop entertaining the silly chatter in your head about naysayers.

Adding age and history as well creating some tension between old and new is always a smart move.
Pulling a decor scheme together in this modern internet age is quite possible to do without leaving your home or consulting a pro. However, it is soooooo much more satisfying and helpful to shop in person.
Sourcing Kitchenwares
Remember shopping at real live shops with doors that ring a little bell when they’re opened. Yes, we can still do this. We can still hunt and notice when an object calls to us or takes our breath away with its patina, color, or character.
Things that have lived other lives or been used up and reflect time have stories to tell.
Honoring them and saving them from landfills or dusty attics has value.
Material things possess energy, and you have an energetic field around you.
Let these energies interact and be reminded of what a wonder it is to be a complex energetic being living in a physical wonderland.
White Kitchens With Color on Island
I have noticed quite a few folks who want a white kitchen with a contrast color for the island.
This can be a smart look, but black or grey are certainly not the only options for the accent color. What’s your favorite color? Why not go for it and then add accents in other areas (even the ceiling!?!).
Another aspect which seems widely overlooked is dismissing certain ready-made work islands or work tables for the kitchen that don’t seem to be the right color.
You can always customize the color after the fact. It’s just paint. You need not even get it right on the first try! If the proportions, price, style, function and look appeal to you, tweak the tone!

Another tip for a white kitchen that needs a little somethin’ somethin’? Paint the window trim a contrasting color. It need not even be a high contrast color. Again, a lot of homeowners feel the only colors for window trim are black or white. Nope.
Even a neutral such as Pashmina could be introduced for a wood-like paint color.
