Armada Cottage with renovated interiors by Beth Dadswell of Imperfect Interiors. Located in a charming and historic small Cotswolds market town, Armada Cottage is one of the oldest buildings in Charlbury, and parts of the building date back to 1489. It is believed that many of the timbers, particularly the ancient floorboards in the first-floor bedroom, came from a ship that sailed during the Armada, hence the name.

Tour This 15th Century English Cottage!

Set over three floors, find a cozy living room and hand-built kitchen on the ground floor of Armada Cottage. There’s a beautiful king-size bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, and a gorgeous master suite on the top floor.

Modern Living in an Old Cotswolds Cottage

The owners have added Wifi, smart TVs located in the sitting room and bedrooms, and a smart speaker on the first floor landing.

Renovating Armada Cottage was a labor of love for Dadswell and her crew. They acquired the property just before one of the coldest winters on record.

They spent several of those months living on site and transforming it DIY style. Without heat or hot water, it proved a challenge.

They stripped out the tired modern elements and swapped them for fixtures and fittings that felt more authentic to the character and period of the cottage.
