Why why why do we always wait until February to spotlight all things sweetheart-centric and LOVE stoned? There is simply never a day they don’t belong! And why do I waste a minute wondering how I (the teeniest blonde blip on love’s radar) could possibly beam light into a universe of expanding chaos? I can do small things to point to the good and pure. I can remind us LOVE builds bridges, can be baked into deliciousness, mends broken hearts, and just may be the messiest truest mysterious glory holding all things together. Sweets, Hearts, New Finds & Love Quotes await.
Sweets, Hearts, New Finds & Love Quotes
I stumbled on this super quick and easy treat you could make for Valentine’s Day or any day:
Here’s how you do it:
If I can make a g-free dough, I may be able to use that sweet method for the hearts!
I hope your heart is full of hope, but if it’s not, that’s okay too.
We all have to be more intentional these days about adjusting our lens to see the good and somehow allow reality to be reality. But you know what is helping me cope better these days? This idea: IT’S MORE THAN OKAY TO NOT KNOW YET. Can you feel the hidden hope inside it? The self-kindness and lack of shame?
Sweet New Finds
Cheery stripes and a kimono style?
This is about as chic as pajamas get!
And they also have a sort of Scandi feel to them.
I have seen several beauty vloggers use this, and it’s just the most cheerful packaging I have seen.
Sustainable Sweet Finds
I was excited to try these new to me essentials with sustainable packaging since they are so easy to order and receive quickly with prime. They did not disappoint. This laundry detergent appealed not only because of the ease (a spray in a lightweight 9 oz bottle) but also because of its sustainability since it is refillable (less packaging!).
No mess, no measuring, no heavy lifting, 98% biodegradable, free of Phosphates, and best of all for me? Safe for sensitive skin. You simply pump the spray a few times on clothes placed in washer. Boom.
This shampoo and conditioner from the same brand (MyKirei) has innovative packaging and are made from Japanese Tsubaki. But does it even matter how sustainable or clean the ingredients are if it doesn’t do the trick, right? My hair feels wonderful with these, and the natural scent is so subtle that it may surprise you.
Tsubaki is closely related to the tea plant and one of Japan’s famous flowering trees. Its scientific name is Camellia japonica. If you’re from the South, maybe you grow these beauties:
So beautiful!
So much beautiful chinoiserie artwork and decor depicting this flower…isn’t this mural lovely?
Easy Heart Cake With No Special Pan Required
I shared this over a decade ago, and even though most bakers own a heart pan, it is nice to know how to do this if you only bake a heart annually:
When your nose is this shape, you are sort of destined to be adored for all time.
What a doll!
Do you make your own candles?
It’s easy! Keep your eyes peeled for heart shaped vessels you can use to create something like this.
If you’re fortunate enough to have antique versions of these milagro hearts…score! But the replicas are pretty swell, and I love mine.
You can write a special love note or tuck a photo inside…
I always like the idea of baking teeny cookies.
But let’s face it, I’m eating handfuls of them anyway!
Touches of Sweet Pink
February is a great month to begin dreaming of spring, and little touches of pink sprinkled around help those midwinter blues.
Such sophisticated simplicity from Pamela Pierce.

Sweet Blast from the Past
I know Valentine’s season can be a commercialized mixed bag of fluff. But I hope Love will draw near to you as the good, good teacher you deserve.
On Beauty & Love
It’s worth a listen. To read more from the late John O’Donohue, there’s also THIS.
Peace to you right where you are.
