Even though we more often turn our attention to French inspired interiors, it is always a pleasure to share classic American cottage charm! When the cottage celebrates all things white in its decor scheme? Even better. This 18th-century Cape (Killingworth) was owned by Nancy Fishelson and has been featured in several magazines, and we’ll revisit it today. You’re destined to admire Fishelson’s timeless style which feels utterly livable and casual. Best of all, I discovered the paint colors this designer uses repeatedly. Let’s peek at Paint Colors in a Connecticut Cottage With Timeless Simplicity!

Doesn’t this breakfast area in the kitchen feel fresh and easy and anything but stuffy!?!
This kitchen Nancy designed just takes my breath away. Look at those reclaimed wide pine boards from the 1800s! Aren’t they amazing?
I also love the French porcelain pulley lights over the light gray fireslate topped island. The range is La Cornue’s CornuFé stainless steel and satin chrome, and I’m loving how its finish echoes the fireslate counters.
All the white feels fresh, clean, and modern, the cake pedestal from Martha Stewart belongs on my own counter!
Nancy reportedly prefers fleamarkets to auctions for antiques, and don’t you love how she lives with them?
I love seeing how designers decorate small bedrooms, and this one feels so cozy and serene:
Like Nancy, I find round vintage wood farmhouse stools function perfectly in any number of rooms. The light grey painted floors? Such a gorgeous design details, and keep reading if you are curious about the paint colors.
In the primary bath, the tub and filler are Waterworks. Don’t you love the tub’s relationship to the windows? The large white urn in the corner reminds me of my own urn.
All of the neutral tones here work harmoniously! In another bedroom, the art above the bed is perhaps a framed vintage tablecloth. The sconces are from Hudson Valley Lighting, and the light painted wood floors feel like a cloud.

The sofa in this light-filled living room dates to the 18th Century, and the light upholstery and cozy furniture arrangement is just right for conversation.
Winter greenery in Nancy’s cottage looks gorgeous with white walls and collected primitives. I would love to see all the collected linens in that basket!
The kitchen cabinetry is custom, and the simple kitchen design feels utterly timeless.
Do you love the antique signage throughout this home? Like the countertops, the sink is also light gray Fireslate. The faucet is by Herbeau.
Authentic Designs in Vermont handcrafted the pewter-finished sconces in the living room.

Nancy Fishelson Paint Color Palette
Even though the designer often custom mixes her paint colors, a few years ago, she revealed her favorite grey paint is a Pratt & Lambert color called Tucker Pale Gray. That paint color was discontinued so I looked into the formula and colors nearly identical.
Apparently Benjamin Moore WISH is essentially the same color as Tucker Pale Gray. This would be a wonderful color for kitchen cabinets. (Also find ideas for putty paint colors in THIS.)
Nancy Fishelson likes Benjamin Moore WHITE DOVE for a great white paint, and if you need more ideas for choosing the right white, go HERE.
Finally, here’s the warm grey paint color Nancy recommends for floors: Benjamin Moore THUNDER.
