I am now seeing more homes in my neck of the woods listed for sale so Spring cannot be far away! This lovely home caught my eye, and because it is a spacious, 8,500 square feet, there were plenty of paint colors represented within it. While these may not be the exact colors the owners chose for the interiors, they are educated guesses and a good start! Benjamin Moore Paint Colors Inspired By an Historic Home will help if you are seeking a beautiful white, grey, blue, or taupe.
Benjamin Moore Paint Colors Inspired By an Historic Home
House Exterior Siding & Trim Paint Colors
Isn’t this Victorian style home beautiful? I am guessing the exterior has been painted a variety of colors over the decades. Need a paint color idea for a neutral taupe?
Shenandoah Taupe is a beautiful color that reminds me of those lovely Parisian greys. What color trim would you pair with it?
Because I think this home’s trim appears to be Benjamin Moore Linen White.
And while sometimes the trim color is not all that important…
it truly makes a statement for a home with architecture like this!
Aren’t the round and oval windows charming?
Let’s step inside and peek at the interiors to score more colors to paint walls and trim.
Benjamin Moore Classic Gray Paint Color
It is indeed tricky to guess at white paint colors from photos, but since I have worked with so very many white paint colors, I have some guesses.
Classic Gray is actually a greyed-white, and while the walls may seem like a bright white, notice the more white crown molding (above).
Seeing that contrast makes me suspect the wall’s color is a cool white with grey undertones.
Chelsea Gray on a Kitchen Island
Here’s a beautiful warm, medium to dark gray spied on this lovely home’s kitchen island.
I love warm brown floors with gray paint colors like this.
You can also see how this gray works with the veining of the stone (or quartz) counters.
What color white for the cabinets?
White Dove Painted Kitchen Cabinets
I think White Dove is the best option if you’re looking for a similar look. Why?
White Dove has minimal undertones, works in a wide variety of spaces, and isn’t too cool or too warm. It is one of those trusty colors that is perfect for older homes.
I can’t tell you how many times I have used White Dove to paint a piece of vintage furniture or a picture frame!
Benjamin Moore White Dove Bedroom
This bedroom strikes me as a space that may be White Dove as well.
Do you love the tall baseboard molding as I do?
Normandy Paint Color in Breakfast Nook
Bet you will highly approve of this gorgeous, luxurious, and classic blue!
Isn’t it glorious with the bright white?
I love those blues that are hard to pin down because they are not chambray, not navy, and not a true denim blue. Those sophisticated colors are the best!
Blue and white are indeed best friends.
White Sand by Benjamin Moore
Here’s a warm white paint color with which I have much experience.
In a bath with stone or stone-hued tile, a color like White Sand brings a tonal look to the space.

Fireplace Mantel Color Idea: Anchor Gray
Anchor Gray is a new to me color that can read very rich and sophisticated. If you like the look of this fireplace mantel, you might love it.
It can also be quite impressive on walls such as a moody-vibed powder room.
Have a place to use it?
Westminster Gold
Yellow-based neutrals have been gaining more popularity with the rise in Grandmillennial style and enduring traditional design so here is an idea inspired by a Victorian bath.
Here’s a paint to sample if you’re after a travertine-like hue:
The closest neutral I have used like this gold color is Benjamin Moore Oyster White which looks beautiful with oak trim.
Pearl River 871
It’s possible that it’s simply the photography or lighting that makes this wet bar area appear so silvery, but I love this color! I used something similar for my former laundry room (Behr Sterling).
Try Pearl River for a tranquil, atmospheric silvery light grey:
Another White to Consider: Chantilly Lace
While I mentioned at the start of this post that the entry and halls may be Classic Gray, in this shot, walls look much brighter.
To get a similar effect, try Chantilly Lace.
Andes Summit Painted Shelves & Trim
What a handsome room with a gabled ceiling planked with wood.
What a gorgeous blue paired with the warm wood!
Have a place where you could use Andes Summit?
Isn’t it helpful to see a blue like this with wood since we typically see blue with white?
More Peeks Inside This Beautiful Home
I hope these paint color suggestions were helpful. Let’s tour more of this historic home with its beautiful millwork.
What a magnificent staircase!
Plenty of wallpaper moments in the home as well:
Need an idea for a teal wallpaper?
I am seeing more and more teal used liberally, and I remember like yesterday when it was all the rage in the 80s!
Do you like this look of wallpaper below the windows in a bath?
Even though I’m not a fan of dark brown stained wood, I could get used to a paneled room like this!
