Tarrytown Green HC-134 Benjamin Moore: Considering a Classic Green Paint Color?
Benjamin Moore describes this color as refined and elegant, and *insert best bougie tone* I concur. It packs a certain formality and handsome quality. However, pair it with earthy, boho decor, and it just may give you serious life. In fact, I am considering this glorious pigment for walls in our lower level’s media room to contrast with a creamy Italian leather sectional.
Where is Tarrytown anyway?
Tarrytown is a village on the Eastern bank of the Hudson River in the town of Greenburgh in Westchester County, New York. Dutch farmers, fur trappers, and fishermen were its first European settlers, and the first residence was built in 1645. Tarrytown is steeped in Revolutionary War history and became a favorite residence for rich New Yorkers such as John D. Rockefeller in the late 19th Century. Tarrytown is mentioned in Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” as it is a neighboring village of Sleepy Hollow.
Is This Classic Green a Contender for Kitchen Cabinets?
The Napiers of HGTV “Hometown” chose Tarrytown Green for the upper cabinets in this kitchen design with vintage charm. What do you think about staining the lower cabinets and window trim?

You know this color must receive high marks when it is chosen for a beautiful 19th Century Hudson River historic home’s restoration:
But even if your own home is brand new, a deep forest-y green can bring depth and richness to a humble space.
Tarrytown Green With White in a Two-Tone Kitchen
Here’s an idea if you’re flirting with the idea of painting your kitchen cabinets and love a wintry green. This winning combination will still look classic years from now, and can you even imagine the potential for holiday decor?
If painting cabinetry sounds daunting, you could start with a statement wall. Or how about accenting a peninsula, breakfast bar or kitchen island like the one below. (Gotta love the contrast created with ordinary white industrial stools against the lifegiving green!).

We painted our master bedroom in the first house we ever owned in Athens, GA, a green shade that looked just like the teal hue in the outdoor NY pic you shared & I loved it! Green is actually my favorite color …any shade! I love it against the natural brick on the outside of that house & in the sunroom of the Country Living picture! Like you said …green is life-giving …can’t go wrong with that! If I were gonna veer from my all-shades-of-white color scheme…some shade of green is what I would try!

In the first condo my husband and I called home, we also chose teal (and of course mauve since it was the 80’s!!!) so it’s fun to see all of that making a comeback. So many folks are thinking green these days, and there are so many beautiful colors to capture moods from regal to garden-like to moody woodland forest. Thanks for reading, friend. Hope you are staying safe from all the extreme storms.
