If you are here to tour the interiors of a tasteful, unique, country French cottage, you are in for a lovely treat! This beautiful home with European country style incorporates elements of: French Country, Provence-inspired, French Nordic, and cottage style.
Believe it or not, it is a relatively new home which only looks Old World. Make sure to read Part 1 if you missed it–more gorgeous, rustic elegance within this French Country cottage belonging to my blog friend Desiree of Decor de Provence.
What I love about the home…Desiree’s beautiful home in Utah was quite the downsize from their previous home (a French chateau!) and while it remains luxurious, it has an ease and friendly livable feel for the young family. The rugged, raw, rustic ceiling beams contrast sharply with the more feminine aqua blues and greens which are sprinkled through the house, and this handsome + pretty combination creates an interesting juxtaposition. The creamy white kitchen has open shelves, cheerful green subway tile, and expanses of white marble yet feels anything but frou frou since items (such as the marble on the island) in many cases are oversized or warm and rustic (such as the ceiling). Another kitchen element keeping the vibe handsome, country, and casual is the lighting which consists of barn-style pendants and modern farmhouse wall sconces. My favorite aspect of the house is the tranquility since it truly presents as a cozy, European-inspired retreat with French inspired, undone character.
Repetitive themes in the blend of cottage, Old World, French inspired decor…Pretty and quiet aqua greens show up in each room for a subtle common thread. Natural materials including rugged, scrubbed, wood, linen, and wrought iron appear again and again, reinforcing the expression of European country. While the wood beamed ceilings are natural, the trim around doors and windows is stained with a soft hue that is difficult to nail down…is it grey, blue, or ? The color softens the spaces and is suggestive of Nordic interiors and Gustavian influences.

Could you possible reveal the source for the black sconces above the white shelves in photo no. 2 French Country Cottage? Love the white inside and the mixed metal 🙂

It IS a beautiful sconce, and you don’t often see white inside the shade. It’s a very refined take on barn style or farmhouse style. This kitchen belongs to Desire of DecordeProvence.blogspot.com, so you might be able to contact her for exact source. See this page for similar (but low priced) options, a few of which have the white interior shade but not the conical shade shape: http://shrsl.com/15lzw. Hope this helps.
