Interview with Tina of The Enchanted Home

My ongoing interview series An Inspired Life is special to me since one of the primary roles of this blog is to
leverage the role of the artist/creative.

MR: Why is it so important to honor creativity?

TM: Because you never know what you might be capable of dreaming up unless you allow yourself to be open to trying new things, pushing the parameters (within reason of course) to allow yourself and others to express their individuality freely and to just let creativity flourish. Be open. Don’t be afraid. You will never know if you don’t try, right? Our world would be a vast and boring place without the wonders of creative minds painting a black and white world its endless array of colors.

MR: Any suggestions for finding lovely and sacredness in the “everyday?”

TM: Everyday taking just a minute or two to say a thanks for the things you know you are lucky to have. I start my day with a silent prayer every single morning and end it the same way. I always try to take a few minutes out of every day to either take a quick walk or somehow spend it outside surrounded by the beauty of nature. A few moments of meditation goes a long long way………..

Look at the limestone floor!!!

MR: When you hear “beauty in imperfection” what comes to mind?

TM: Finding the redeeming qualities in something or someone, because almost everything or one has them. Some of the most beautiful people I know are those that might be considered to be the most flawed, some of the material things I treasure are hardly perfect, in fact they have many imperfections and yet they make my heart beat faster! Take my reclaimed limestone’s floors in my kitchen for example….perfect? Far from it, but beautiful? Yeah, “Melts my heart every time I see them” kind of beautiful:) Flaws can and often are beautiful…it is those very things that give a person or thing that character that makes them uniquely “them.”

Look at that mini Staffordshire pup lamp…you can buy the pair!

MR: What role does a sense of humor play in your life and work?
TM: A big one in my case. I love to laugh, am known to have a wicked sense of humor, love to play jokes, and make people laugh and smile. Keeps me young and unpredictable. I am my happiest when I am with those I love and laughter ensues……. Laugther makes everything in life a heck of a lot more fun, less serious and way more entertaining.

MR: What 3 things are inspiring you at the moment?

TM: Hmmm…..after careful thought, here’s what I came up with.

A close male relative, who overcame something not easy to overcome, I am inspired by him and his bravery and inner strength in a huge way.

Nature……… I am in constant awe of how beautiful it is and how its a gift that continues to give, all four beautiful seasons. I could stare at a roaring summer ocean all day long, get lost in the colorful oasis of fall’s foliage, am mesmerized watching a first pristine crystal white snow fall and marvel at seeing springs first buds come to life.

Last I am inspired by youth, I see their idealism, their positive energy, its contagious, it makes me want to look at the world through rose colored glasses like they do, see the good, the humor and the happy in everything. Every day.

TM: Michele, glamour rocker mama that you are…….you are awesome. You make my trips to blogland that much happier. Your blog is a special place and I know you are loved by many. Thank you so much for inviting me to be here for this wonderful thought provoking series, I so enjoyed it and am honored you asked me!

Thanks to those of you who took the time to stop by…..wishing everyone a fabulous day. Go out there, be inspired, find the beauty in the imperfect, laugh a little or a lot, be creative and take a minute to reflect on what makes your life one that you are grateful to have. Get out there and put your brushstroke on the world…what color are you?

Peace to you right where you are.

Oh my god, what an inspiring home, so elegant with an equally elegant owner! Fabulous xxx

  19. September 5, 2012 / 8:43 pm

I have been following Tina's blog practically from day one, as we were both in the midst of a significant building project. It has been so nice to see Tina's house continue to evolve, and I love the new pictures of her powder room – I firmly resisted wallpaper in my house (because of the 80s house I had before, with tons of bad wallpaper), but now I am definitely reconsidering given how beautiful Tina's spaces look with the subtle wallpaper.

    Great post, Michele and Tina!

The house is definitely one of the most beautiful I have ever seen and her taste has been impeccable throughout.
I really enjoyed hearing Tina's views on your equally wonderful questions, it reconfirms why I like her and enjoy her blog so much. Happy to find yours too, you are quite the accomplished lady. No wonder you two are friends:-)
