Paint and paint colors may be the most boring of topics for a segment of society, and that’s fine by me. I’m over here still kicking and still not tired of noting how interior colors impact nervous system regulation, inspire delight and elevate resale. That’s why I was elated to find an answer to WHAT IS THAT STUNNING LIGHT BLUE ELEGANT PAINT COLOR Cathy Kincaid chose for BEACON HILL BOOKS?

Cathy Kincaid Elegant Interiors & Light Blue
Farrow & Ball Light Blue No. 22
It’s this gorgeous silvery blue that we have often gushed about on this blog.

Lots of designers have their go-to sophisticated light blue-grey tones, but so often the color in question is a custom one. Thank goodness, we know the exact color in this case!
Just a reminder to not be put off by how a swatch appears on your phone or computer screen. So many factors influence our perception of a particular color.

You simply must sample paint color in your space first. The amount of natural light and even the quality of the light (depending on where you live) will impact your perception.
I love how Cathy Kincaid mentions Farrow & Ball Pale Powder as an alternative and a good pick for ceilings (since Light Blue No. 22 will read much darker on a ceiling).

Do you suppose it is Pale Powder on the ceiling above in another of Kincaid’s projects?

Let me know if you have visited this amazing bookstore in Boston! Here’s the owner, Melissa Federer offering a tour of the shop and her residence:
How amazing is her home!?! I would never leave that glorious kitchen! In another Cathy Kincaid project, do you suppose Farrow & Ball Light Blue is the color drenched in the kitchen?

More Memorable Rooms Designed by Cathy Kincaid
Her projects and rooms are worth studying, don’t you agree?

When one dreams of green and red in a breakfast area, I’m not sure it gets more harmonious or pretty than this! And her way with those sophisticated blue-greys:

is so enviable! It certainly is not as simple as browsing the marketplace.

At this level of refined design, custom colorways and patterns for fabrics are commissioned. Wallpaper is handpainted:

and every detail is considered, down to the little ruffle of chandelier shades.
Blue and White Elegance
Cathy Kincaid has the most keen eye for blue and white interiors.

Her admiration for blue and white porcelain and pretty blue wallcoverings is a sight to behold.

We also can’t miss her commitment to thoughtful design of bedrooms. So often we spend our budgets and energies on our non-private spaces. Considering how much time we spend in our bedrooms, they are deserving of attention too.

The above bath is a fine example of including blue and white but surrounding it with a sea of neutrals…lovely!

I can’t wait for Cathy Kincaid’s new book:

In her latest title, Kincaid treats us to range of remarkable homes including Melissa Federer’s townhouse mentioned above. Room by room, Kincaid discusses choices for color, materials, textiles, and accessories, offering inspiration for dining rooms, living spaces, kitchens, bedrooms, powder rooms, and even outdoor areas.
