I’m whisking you to the South of France to lead you inside this Provençal gem – a Restored 19th Century Avignon Mansion.
Steps from the Palais des Papes, it is where THE SERENITY SUITE offered by Your Haven In is available for guests to book a stay.
History of Property
In the heart of Provence, in the historic center, this Avignon guest house is located on the site of the 14th-century Livrée of Cardinal Amédée de Saluces.
The Cardinal was the Popes’ right-hand man, their ambassador to all the kingdoms of Europe.
His entire “ministry” was housed and worked in the buildings annexed to this property.
The Palace of the Popes is one of the largest and most important buildings in Europe since this residence was a seat of Christianity during the 14th century.
After the palace was demolished in the 16th century, the surrounding wall of the current property was built using its salvaged stone.
In the 18th century, the north wing of the current house (including kitchen) was built, and in the 19th century, a Marseille insurance company bought the property and constructed an extension to house staff.
In 2009, the property sold to Amaury de Villoutreys & Gilles Jauffret, who converted it into an Avignon guest house.
The restoration took more than 7 years.
In 2022, a new life began for La Divine Comédie when the owners’ friend Béatrice fell in love with its elegance, spirit, and simplicity place and acquired it.

These works were formerly exhibited in the Palais des Papes.
Additionally, you can’t miss a whimsical collection of oddities along with one-of-a-kind treasures.

The guest house interiors are obviously designed for guests so the configuration of furniture reflects that point of view.
