Last summer we explored an inspiring book featuring soulfully spare, contemplative interiors by Michael Del Piero. What’s the significance of this contemplative quality? For me, this atmosphere breathes with a spirit of soulfulness, intuition, and quietude. There is plenty of mystery and even humility in spite of the spacious, understated sophistication. The work stays grounded in earthiness with natural elements. Spaces whisper “serenity now” and luxuriantly flow with a poetic simplicity. Let’s revisit compositions within the book as well as other previous work by a Hello Lovely designer favorite.

How is such mystery stirred? Who can say? But it typically involves seeing and playing with light, yes?
I learned about Del Piero’s work after touring a Chicago designer showhouse for charity, many years ago. Her handsome book published by Beta-Plus is surely the next best thing to experiencing in person the beauty of bespoke spaces imagined by her.
In fact, the physical book itself is the most texturally wondrous object to own and display. What a design statement with its linen cover!
Del Piero’s interior design projects are organized into sections including Relaxed, Refined, Rough and Restrained. These qualities beautifully color the designer’s contemplative work. She stays ever close and true to her globally informed aesthetic, paying no mind to social media trends or avenues of reinvention.
Michael Del Piero Designed East Hampton Hideaway
In a secluded East Hampton hideaway, crisp white rooms are layered in a globally sourced collection of textures.
Important works of art mix with modern rustic forms.
The home’s interior style is purposefully kept spare to leave space for beautiful work yet imagined.
Textural pieces collected by Del Piero from around the globe hail from dusty, off the beaten path places.
Wisconsin Lake House by Del Piero
A major renovation for a small, 1920s stone cottage on the lake in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, this home is now graced with wood floors from Paris and antique French stone.
Vintage and custom pieces sing harmoniously in a home that is both luxurious and livable.
How to add European villa sophistication yet retain earthy cottage charm? Skip the clutter and hire Del Piero too!
The cottage’s kitchen was also re-oriented to capture the light and beautiful waterside views.
This amazingly soulful and textural kitchen somehow also camouflages an object as imposing as a refrigerator!
Only Michael Del Piero magic seems up for the challenge!
