If you live in the Midwest, maybe you had a snow day too. I spent mine watching SNOWFLAKES fall, writing, and remaining unplugged until this moment. This poem written today honors snowflakes along with snowy glimpses around the house. January isn’t always gentle with us, but when we slow down enough to listen and learn from her…well, she’s vast.
Poem for SNOW
My head is in the clouds.
Today snowflakes fall and teach as only holy hexagons can.
What do I know about you, snow?
Somewhere in a cloud, a bit of water vapor lives.
Maybe she dreams big.
Maybe she prays silent to be solid.
For a chill to January air to wake a crystal to life.
Born to fly.
Born to shape shift.
Built for a glittering disco in grey skies.
Does a crystal love to hook up?
Is she lonely?
Is she wooed?
Is the absent fear of engulfment a clue?
Please, snowflake scientists, share more data soon.
For I’m awed by the path of this prism…
from sky to icy ground.
By the changes from sacred collisions as a snowflake journeys down.
I was never charmed by geometry, its elegance too rich for my soul.
But I watch these crystals collect and connect, and the equations…
nope, I still don’t need to know. 🙂
But I’d love to know what the snowflakes know
as the weight of their tender togetherness grows…
into blessing,
into blankets for shivering earth,
into snow.
Hello Lovely Snowy Whites at Home
Thanks for supporting my small business by visiting me here, pinning images, and subscribing so we may easily stay in touch. I love having you here.
A tour around our place reveals plenty of: white walls, Belgian linen, and unfussy European inspired modern country style. I was totally inspired by a design book before we got started at this home. Can you guess which one? I made this video with the answer:

Wishes for You
I wish you the blessing of beautiful living in the shelter you call home.
I wish you sweetness, this very moment, to counter any bitterness within your being.
I wish you heartfulness to soften the beautiful edges of your soul.
I wish you loving kindness, lavishly overflowing from hidden wholeness within and…
Peace to you right where you are.

Love love love your snow poem!! ❤️And I too was inspired by Patina Farm when we were building our home on the Mtn in Alabama…because you were sharing all about it when I found your blog! And I’m so thankful I found your blog!! You inspire us everyday with your heart, your words, your lovely home, and your excellent design wisdom!! Thank you!
Also, I must say …I love your little dog figurine that sits atop a book on your wonky little table (which I love too!) in the picture of your former home! Blessings to you on this very cold wintry day …even in Alabama! Haha! We buried my dear mother one year ago today…but it’s not a sad day today as I reflect…but a thankful day of the life she lived and the life she gave!

So much beauty you have added right here, Amy. Thanks for tuning in with such a tender listening ear. Thanks for encouraging me. Every time you discuss your build in Alabama, I get the itch to design something new. After being in the mountains recently, it’s interesting to be on the prairie and feel grateful for its charms. My little dog was found at a neighborhood sale in Paris. I couldn’t find him for 1 1/2 years when we moved into the Georgian and was so sad. Then I found him! He is on the fireplace mantel in our dining/music room. Rejoicing with you this day as you remember your mother. What a testimony and a reflection of the joy that can be ours when our hearts belong to Him. xox
And, I wish you love!
