Overview of Project
In another post where we toured the exterior and kitchen, you met homeowner Charlotte Reiss, who shared the story of her journey to home ownership in France.
She and husband Sky fulfilled their dream to own a French farmhouse as both an escape from LA for summers and holidays and a place for their young daughters to enjoy the French countryside.
Can you fathom how charming this French farmhouse exterior is!?!

A Business is Born
That dream then bloomed into a business for Charlotte, when fans of her iInstagram requested the beautiful French homewares they glimpsed on her feed. She created the online shop Vivi et Margot (named for her daughters) a couple of years ago, where among other treasures, you can snag wildly popular market baskets (above).

Let’s continue our French farmhouse house tour of Charlotte’s French farmhouse in Deux-Sèvres (80 minutes from Ile de Re and 2 hours from Bordeaux).

French Farmhouse Design Inspiration: Interior Paint Colors
Paint colors for interiors throughout the French farmhouse: FARROW & BALL.
Woodwork, doors, and beams: FARROW & BALL French Gray

FARROW & BALL French Gray. A soothing green grey. French Gray is really much more green than grey, but characterfully flits between the two depending on the light and time of day. Taking inspiration from French design and wallpapers used in the 19th century, it creates the most relaxed of rooms. This soothing hue is perfect for exterior woodwork and a particular favourite for front doors in our matte Exterior Eggshell, or garden furniture where it sits seamlessly amongst the greenery.
Interior walls: FARROW & BALL Strong White 2001

FARROW & BALL Strong White 2001. A grey based white. This cool white is both strong by name and strong by nature. One of our Contemporary Neutrals, the subtle urban feel of its light grey undertones add a contemporary twist to period homes, while staying in keeping with modern properties. Pair with Skimming Stone, Elephant’s Breath and All White in any combination for an effortlessly cohesive scheme.
Ceilings: FARROW & BALL All White No. 2005

FARROW & BALL All White No. 2005. A totally pure white All White is exactly what it says! Unusually, it contains no other pigment except for white, creating the softest most sympathetic colour without the colder blue undertones of a brilliant white. One of our Contemporary Neutrals, All White pairs seamlessly with Skimming Stone and Strong White for a warm scheme with a slight edge. For a clean and almost graphic finish, contrast with fresh, strong tones like Pitch Black and St Giles Blue.
Girls’ Bathroom: FARROW & BALL Middleton Pink No. 245

FARROW & BALL Middleton Pink No. 245. A delicate pink. Our prettiest and most delicate pink was named after the discerning colourist, Catherine Middleton. This light pastel tone is fresh and uncomplicated, especially when contrasted with All White for a gently playful feel. Try pairing our Middleton Pink with Great White for a slightly cleaner urban finish.
Paint color of shutters: TOLLENS Vert Olivier (satin) purchased at Castorama…see THIS STORY for color match ideas!
This is a traditional French exterior paint color very popular in France.

Wow just wow! I love that most of the home is done in only two paint colors…of course the girl’s bathroom has that lovely pink too.
So happy to see part 2 of this lovely home. VERY inspirational!
Simplement magnifique maison!

I was thinking the same thing. It’s so helpful to see wood work painted French Gray in an entire home because you see the different character the color takes depending on the light. It also shows you how incredible Farrow & Ball colors work together and work to deliver a timeless effect. Charlotte has such an incredibly artful eye for color and form. 🙂
What a magical place, inside and out! Buying this home and turning it into a business are the things that dreams are made of!

I hope Charlotte writes a whole book on how to make this dream a reality! xox
I cannot recommend savon de Marseille enough. It’s great for the skin and it’s also great for laundry. Very natural.

Thanks – I totally trust your endorsement along with Charlotte’s! xox
What colors of drapery did she use in the different rooms? Specifically the girls bedroom, the bath and master bedroom.

Hi Camille. There’s a link toward the end of the post for the Belgian flax linen drapes (https://www.potterybarn.com/m/products/belgian-linen-drape-ivory/?pkey=ccurtains-drapes&isx=0.1.5132) which I believe are the ivory in the master bedroom. With photography editing, it’s sometimes tricky to see the true color.

I am pretty sure they are the ivory color (Pottery Barn Belgian flax linen drapery: https://rstyle.me/+53uz4Cc8HopAnVLyya_KyQ) Hope this helps
So much goodness packed into one stunning post! It seems like a simply beautiful way of life more than a look that can be copied. As always thanks for inspiring me Michele!
