Yesterday’s post with stream of consciousness musing about a design quality I name as “wholehearted” applies to interiors you see below. They are all inspiring and for me, embody a timeless look many of us admire in turbulent times of cultural upheaval, cynicism, and systemic breakdown. If you too are comforted by ideas of enduring timeless beauty that is somehow outside of temporary seasons of chaos or unrest, maybe this gallery will appeal.

While we are “more connected” virtually than ever, I wonder if we feel technological devices have brought more warmth to our daily lives?
I have grown increasingly dissatisfied with how social media algorithms disrupt my natural rhythms and complicate my interpersonal relationships.
Are you able to resist cynicism AND be plugged into media, news, social networks?
I long for a timelessness that does not rely on retreats to the past or escapes into the future.
Rather, I want to inhabit this present space with higher vision and a lens of an evolved consciousness (beyond ego consciousness).
There are endless interpretations of timelessness, but for me, Old World sensibilities and European influence resonate.
Timeless Style as Resistance to Artificial Everything
Is this because my ancestors were European? Because artificial everything is everywhere?
Possibly. I also think my age is showing.
It’s natural to become more interested in history as you inch closer to the end of life and spend a fair amount of time reflecting.
It is also natural to contemplate timelessness on a spiritual journey where you ask larger questions. Where are we going? How can we leave this place better than when we arrived?
A timeless look for interiors also appeals because it will not be tied to a particular era.
There are too many days these days when it feels we’re stuck.
Nuclear holocaust is possible, and our ability to destroy ourselves and cause extinction is a present danger. We can look away from sobering truths in this present age, or we can begin to grasp the importance of becoming the very transformation we want to see emerge.
Handcrafted, Reclaimed & Naturally Elegant Choices
There is also an optimism I appreciate about timelessness (and I need all the help to stay optimistic I can get!).
A mix of antiques, natural textures, and weathered materials are evidence of beauty built to withstand time and use.
With so much disposable everything, who among us cannot derive comfort from the everlasting qualities (fine – nearly everlasting qualities) of set apart timeless designs that improve with age?
We are living through a time where a lack of character is not only celebrated as strength, but as a highly profitable strategy.
What would our great great grandparents make of the current cultural and political landscapes where loyalty trumps integrity?
What will future generations say about our morality and care of this beautiful blue planet?
How is a pervasive sense of disconnection and powerlessness impeding our attempts to live harmoniously as humans?
These questions are timeless and not at all new…is this why creative attempts to develop a timeless mindset seem critical for arriving at solutions and new understanding?
