With Valentine’s Day around the corner, here’s a heartfelt proclamation of love to a dreamy French-y blue (we explored it in THIS). Maybe you call its beauty porcelain blue, sky, Chinoiserie blue, Limoges (a Suzanne Kasler fav!), or icy blue. Whatever you choose, it’s lovely.

I independently selected products in this post—if you buy from one of my links, I may earn a commission.
Love Letter to LIMOGES BLUE Interiors Inspiration
Pale Blue With Timeless Neutrals
Obviously white decor and this blue are perfect together, but don’t you also love how it works with cool greys AND warm neutrals?
My fairly new washable rug from Amazon above has this pretty blue with silvery greys and touches of gold. It inspired these other finds that are inexpensive, timeless, and cozy. For reference, my dining room above is Sherwin-Williams REPOSE GRAY.
Suzanne Kasler’s Way With Blue
While Suzanne Kasler immediately comes to mind when I consider the prettiest, cool, pale French blue. Her favorite blue paint was discontinued (Glidden Limoges Blue), but I found a lovely dupe in UPWARD:
If you’re charmed by the idea of using this blue somewhere at home, sample it (tap the image above) to see how it interacts with the unique lighting conditions in your space.
Another designer who uses the delicate blue brilliantly? Rivers Spencer.

Isn’t the Susan Harter mural amazing in this elegant space along with the lattice?
Limoges, Pale Blue, and French Blue Interiors

It is easy to understand why timeless traditional sophistication is trending at the moment on social media.

Everything Chinoiserie chic and blue seems to stop scrolls!

Do you love the Raphael wallcovering as I do?
Classic Interior Design Inspiration From Elegant Homes

If your home is mostly neutrals and you’re toying with blue, a powder bath or utility space is a smart place to experiment.
Also notice how these seasoned designers accent with Limoges blue in an understated way.

More often than not, the walls are left neutral, but pretty trims, curtains, and accents in blue still play a significant role.

Light Blue With Gilded Fixtures, Brass & Gold
You have probably noticed already how incredible the combination with gilded finishes becomes!

Right? The warmth of gilded iron or unlacquered brass or gold leaf…

The contrast is so pleasing and not at all startling.
And of course, blue and white remain best friends across an eclectic range of design styles from rustic to elegant.

Remember my favorite showhouse where the homeowner’s favorite color was blue, and a haint blue ceiling in the sunny sitting room took our breath away?

To my eye, it looks more Limoges-like in the image above than when you view the swatch alone:
Rainwashed likely has more green undertones than Upward (at beginning of post) and is more reminiscent of a duck egg blue on my computer screen.

However, we know better than to make too many judgments!
Sample, sample, sample and know that you are in for surprises so it’s better to try a few before deciding on a final choice.

Timeless Blue Traditional Interiors
Have you noticed from this inspiring collection of design inspiration how blue seems to live in these rooms as a natural, neutral?

We often overlook these more subtle blues maybe because when the hue is a bit off, the effect can be too cool or cloying.

So many of us have at one point or another experienced a baby blue that was all wrong.

But when it is done right, isn’t it transcendent?
Not sure I have ever seen a prettier dressing area with every detail this romantically elegant:

We can dream! And we can admire without getting silly about needing to acquire!

Don’t you love this blue with warm but pale stone?

And isn’t porcelain blue gorgeous as an accent color in pale area rugs? Just divine!

There’s a great price point for Suzanne Kasler’s book linked above, and you will be inspired for miles and learn fresh ways to use Limoges blue.

As for me, I am dreaming about how a vanity situation like the one above could somehow materialize here at the Georgian.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on how this blue is working its magic on you!

Peace to you right where you are.
