We continue our exploration of choosing small moves from a spirit of quietude to create timeless interiors to calm your…literal interiors! It starts HERE if you’re just tuning in.

SMALL Homekeeping SHIFTS, Part 2
With Fresh Eyes, SHOP YOUR HOME
It drives me nuts. I have decor stashed in multiple places all over our home.

Can you relate?

I know you’ve seen the advice a hundred times, and let’s face it, nobody actually takes advice.

But before you make a list of all you lack, consider an existing inventory preventing bruises to your bank account.

But even before shopping your home? Take time to organize all the stuff so shopping can birth more possibility than headaches.

It never fails. Whenever I begin packing for a move, I discover treasure I forgot about, unseen for years.

The ugly truth is, for some of us, it takes less time to motor to Homegoods for new purchases than to search closets, garages, and basements for what we own in multiples.

These are sobering revelations pointing to a long list of inequity and excess.

We cling and keep buying because…well…pretty sure I would need at minimum, 30 posts to unpack that analysis.

In any case, shopping your home is not just one more cute strategy for the frugal. It is responsible, decent, and the right move for the planet’s health.

Psst. I know a lot of these images are from our prior home. Here are a few glimpses which include the present one:
Thrift & Consign
When a guest visits and asks about the provenance of something I own, my response is typically “it found me!”

And it’s true. I’m not a big shopper or spender. Even all these opinions I express here? I don’t claim to have found any special truth.

I’m not special. But the truth will find you.

For example, the intent of this post was to explore how small de-cluttering and decorating moves can create lasting impact.

What’s incredible is how just writing on the topic fills me with fresh insight and energy.

As my nervous system quiets, and I open to a more expansive source of creativity and beauty, new possibilities arise.

So much mystery in all of this!

By the way, if you fall into the frugal fold…

I continue to score great finds for home and fashion at Poshmark. Vintage mirrors, antique English marmalade jars, and high end candles, oh my!

Don’t have a free Poshmark account? I’ll save you cash instantly!
