It’s not earth shattering new information, but pink is often an unsung hero. Pink Interior Moments of Softened Sophistication bring forth a collection of room ideas with a lovely gentleness and calm. While timeless, these inspiring moments are eclectic and independent of design style or architecture. For example, while my own budget cannot absorb the expense of a handpainted pink de Gournay wallcovering (you’ll see it below!), paint, pale pink roses, or even a simple kitchen towel can be the hint of pink that feels fresh and sophisticated.
Pink Interior Moments With Sophisticated Softness
Ahhhh, pink. Betsy Eby has some new encaustic paintings on exhibit right now, and the works with pink are my favorite. She uses hot wax, cold wax, and oil paint on these panels:
In Milk and Honey, Eby creates “material conveyances of poetry” through expressive layers of wax and pigment that expand and trickle as transposed memories, landscapes, and music. Created in both her Maine and Georgia studios, this body of work alludes to subtle changes in the environment, as spurts of color teeter around wispy backgrounds like seeds rustling through midsummer fields. Eby searches for solace throughout her compositions, imbuing gauzy pastels with a lyrical optimism. Her brushstrokes pulse with hopefulness, as if quiet gestures of empathy to our natural surroundings.
I love this hue for clothing…
for pretty blush sticks…
or artwork…
and homemade macarons in my kitchen.
And garden roses in the sweetest hues!
A rosy paint color is also a way to celebrate soft femininity and turn up the calm factor.
But which pink?
One of my followers used BM Odessa Pink to achieve the look of the pink door above.
Is Pink a Tricky Hue to Get Right?
A lot of folks seem to find pink colors rather challenging. Take the Moda Operandi showroom below.
That heavenly pink space is the brainchild of Lauren Santo Domingo who founded Moda Operandi with Aslaug Magnusdottir. Just look at the exterior!
Santo Domingo said this to Town & Country about her endurance for achieving the just right pink:
“I can have 20 meetings to find the right color. How many pinks did we go through when we were doing our showroom? The hours just spent on de Gournay fabrics for this space. You can’t tire me out. I will get it right.”
You have to admire that level of devotion to color and the artful determination!
Suddenly the prospect of selecting three or four pink paint colors to sample or picking up a few pink accessories to try at home seems not quite such an ordeal.
Ideas to Add Pink Softness to a Bedroom
The timelessness of these curtains, the peaceful pale pink walls, and the curves of the headboard for me are the ingredients for living inside a seashell.
If pink walls are too much of a commitment, a pink fabric may be just the ticket.
Maybe there’s an opportunity for a blushing wallpaper?
A rosy hued sham provides a hint of femininity on a beautiful bed…
and a quilt in a tasteful pink may live like a neutral.
Pink and green are such dear friends!
And don’t forget about all of the wonderful opportunities to celebrate pink as an accessory or everyday soothing essential:
This cornice in a girl’s room is grown up enough to stay well beyond adolescence…
and when pink is continued on the ceiling…
it can even feel downright modern (or at least Modern English Country!).
Hushed Pink Tones
My favored pinks are those muddied European ones that don’t feel too precious, cloying, or sweet. European pink pointe shoes (these are from my collection) are often a peachy, antiqued pink that feels royally decadent.
Muted rosy pink checks on a French tablecloth feel whimsical yet still very sophisticated:
Ideas for Chic Pink Paint Colors
While we don’t have an exact pink color for this showroom below since it was painstakingly customized to perfectly suit that particular space with its unique lighting, we can explore possibilities approaching it.
Coastal Cottage 1164
If a soft, shrimp-like, European peachy pink appeals, consider Benjamin Moore’s Coastal Cottage.

Ever considered a pink ceiling? Consider what designer Jeffrey Bilhuber did.
I love the interior design genius of Phoebe Howard, and she provides a palette with her book here:
Just look at this gorgeous feminine bedroom!
This is one of Phoebe Howard’s favorites.
Calamine (a Greyer Blush Tone)
Here’s a warmer shade of blush pink, and I love wearing this color when my skin is tan (which only happens from a spray tan these days!).
Here’s what designer Sara Story told House Beautiful about Calamine:
Similar to Calamine, Cameo Stone is a soft, greyed down, rosy pink which may work gorgeously with lavender or light grey accents.
Easiest way to see if a color is right? Order samples to be delivered to your door with Samplize (a peel and stick sheet of “paint” to stick on your wall and easily move around to other walls!).

Thanks so much for stopping, Elizabeth – so happy to have you here.
So many beautiful “pinks”.
I live in a 300 year old cottage so I can get away with a little pink here and there. But love all the gorgeous ideas

I need to visit that 300 year old cottage! Are you ready to spotlight it on Hello Lovely? Hahahaha. How wonderful! At the moment, I only have little touches, but I do have a little of that blush Pyne Hollyhock fabric to use somewhere so I’m scheming. Thanks for reading!
