Magnificent Arched Window Over Farm Sink

Antiques Plates Displayed on Wall
Of the antique Ridgeway plates which are hung on the wall next to the farm sink, the designer told Hello Lovely: “I found them at Interiors Market in Atlanta and have never seen any others. They were the exact shade of the cabinet color so I think they were meant to be there.”

Light Blue Hand Applied Painted Cabinets
In this completely custom kitchen, Farrow & Ball Light Blue paint was hand-brushed on the cabinets. The designers felt this application increased the character of the space and better integrated it with the original house. Brush marks give the cabinetry a look as if it has been painted many times over the years!

Happy Sunday Michele!
It is a most lovely kitchen indeed!
Though I don’t tend to lean towards blue, here in our new home we have such beautiful expanse of sky out our windows, I did toy briefly 😉 with doing our kitchen cabinets in a light blue similar to this home. Because I just couldn’t take that step quite yet, I did paint a lovely little vintage counter stool in a similar light blue color.
I think a subtle light blue is a wonderful addition to a room….it seems to be growing on me. 🙂

Hi Connie! It was so fun for me to paint the Arizona home’s kitchen cabinets a blue-grey so that I could experience it. Everyone including me loved living with them so I’m a cheerleader for the timelessness of a sophisticated light blue or blue-grey when done right. Painting the stool is such a smart move! I did the same thing a few months ago – picked up an old wooden country stool at an estate sale…who can walk away from a cute one? Thanks so much for reading and sharing more your progress. xox
It’s so pretty! I’m glad to see that brass hardware and fixtures are becoming more fashionable now. I’ve always loved the warmth of brass. Thanks for the post, Michelle.

Thanks for reading, Lisa – happy Sunday. 🙂
I absolutely love everything about this kitchen!!! The plates, I can’t even get over. Would love to find those! Thanks for sharing. I’ll save this post for future dreaming!

Hahaha we all want those antique Ridgeway plates Lauren DeLoach somehow snagged for this kitchen which coordinate perfectly with that soothing blue. Thanks for reading!
I like the tall metal flowers on the nightstand in the master bedroom. Wish I knew where they got those. Any ideas?
Also, I noticed the use of table lamps at the kitchen sink. Could you do a post specifically on how to use lamps in kitchens when there are already pendants, spot lights or chandeliers?

I’ll look into those flowers and locate the designer’s name in case I can ask. The lamps – yes! I used table lamps in our Arizona kitchen because of the plentiful counterspace, but that is a great post idea. I have a floor lamp in the breakfast nook which is slightly different – and I have been thinking about the need for battery operated lamps and sconces for kitchen. There are sources for battery sconces (not a great variety of styles) which I should share as well. Thanks for reading!
The blue is dreamy… dreamy! And, used with the different metals… Yes, Dreamy! Loved the post. Thank you, Michele!

It is truly a killer combination, and I’m not always crazy about brass hardware yet this makes me a believer. (If I tell myself ‘gold toned’ or ‘warm metallic’ I feel even better!). Merci for reading – have a wonderful weekend!
I love the look of these kitchens, they are so classy and timeless! I’m having my kitchen cabinets redone by a local cabinet refinisher in a few weeks, and I would love to use Farrow & Ball Light Blue paint and matching gold hardware and knobs. I have a lot of vintage antiques that my grandmother gave to me that I’ve incorporated into my kitchen decor, and I think it would look well with these colors. My only concern is that my kitchen doesn’t have a lot of windows or natural light. Do you think this color would still work with my space?
Author
Definitely try a sample of the color on the wall in your space first since it is likely to look entirely different than these photos given your lighting and given photography/editing/computer screen settings. I would also try a sample at 50% saturation in case you like that effect better. Best of luck on your project…exciting!
