Christmas & Crowns
Crowns and Christmas go together for plenty of Christian folks given the celebration is for the birth of a king.
Since crowns were historically associated with nobility and status, artists often depicted religious figures wearing them.
The Bible is full of references about receiving a crown, especially in relation to longsuffering and battles won.
While we may not think of the Christmas wreath as a crown, it too is said to symbolize eternity, infinite love, and in the case of a holly wreath, Christ’s crown of thorns.
Christmas Symbols and Crowns
Perhaps traditional wreaths have endured as a symbol of Christmas because of the paradox.
Instead of a symbol representing wealth or even pain, a wreath is a life-giving reminder of how Perfect Love conquered death.
A wreath on a door may be an invitation for Jesus to enter or a sort of welcome to a triumphant Christmas spirit awaiting within.

Crowns have a playful side too. Brits traditionally wear tissue ones at Christmas dinner since they come in those sweet Christmas crackers.
Children around the globe feel special donning crowns as well even before they understand the historical significance or implications.
Sparkly crowns came into my world in a fresh way when my tiara-loving nieces became fixtures in my life. What a fun collection it has been my pleasure to help them build!
For me personally, there is just so much loveliness to embrace within the symbol of a crown.
The unending circle of perfect love, the hope that death will not have the final word, the victory of peace coming to a weary world, and the nobility of the human spirit.

I like this time very much. But the reason I answer after some missed comments is to know how are YOU doing.

So sorry to hear things are shut down and stressful in Spain. Take good care of yourself and know this will all pass. I’m doing okay and coping well with my illness. I don’t overdo anything anymore. A little housework, a little blogging, lots of piano playing, and lots of baking/cooking. Lots of unplugged time to not get overwhelmed by bad news and lots of meditation where Love waits in the silence.
I do too much .I should rest my shoulder after OP but I try to distract myself with all the
other things from this 2nd lockdown. Housework, cooking, reading and other stuff. I really have to learn to withdraw myself .Today, after a doctor’s consultation I started to ponder abouth my health and welbeing. It is necessary to calm down. Hence I startet with a nice lunch in the sun and continued the
rest of the day slowy. Hard for me to do so because I am an active person.

I think I understand as a kindred spirit. I feel as though I must be producing and crossing things off a list in order to be acceptable and good. But in a sense, that is being a slave to performance and not fully free. Sleeping in, for example, makes me feel like I’m a slacker rather than being responsible and loving towards my body and its need to heal. This pandemic pause helps us see the shadow side of our patterns of thinking and behaving, and I’m right there with you remembering to simply ‘be still and know.’ xox

I hope the suffering is somehow recycled – that would be a comfort. Thank you, Amy. The same thing happens to me all the time where I finally part with something and BOOM, realize the next day how I could have used it. I wonder if there is a word for that phenomenon…the muse arrives too late!
Oh & by the way…I finally tried your simmer recipe of fruits & spices on Mon. (which I’ve been wanting to try for so long!) while I was decorating our tree and it smelled so festive…and to top it off it started snowing about noon and continued till 9:00pm…a perfect wintry day to start off the month of Dec. AND I finally tried greens on the light fixture above our table…and love it…another inspiration from your blog. 🙂
