Coastal Cabin: Wynchelsea
This pale and interesting shabby chic “coastal cabin” as the owner calls it is such a charming example of a no-fuss vacation getaway and easy to love country style. Its owners, Atlanta Bartlett & Dave Coote, have renovated the 1930’s rustic cottage with a very light touch. LIGHT is actually key to the design’s success since natural light bathes rooms in bright light, and the light color palette is restrained and quiet as well.
Enjoy the simplicity of this sweet home in England, just a two-minute drive from Wynchelsea Beach.

My dear former college roomie and friend recently purchased a lake home. This interior would be so right for the style of that little cottage. I will forward this post to her. Nice distraction during our Florance focus. All good here, but other areas of our state have been gobsmacked with water. What an unusual storm. Have a friend who lost two beach homes (one as their residence the other a rental), both beautifully decorated. They took the direct hit at landfall. Pray for the people in the path of this brutal, water logged event. Hope that you are feeling much better, sweet Michele.
I am so happy to hear you are safe – truly an unusual storm, and I’m so sorry for the losses experienced from it. Water is such a powerful force in the universe, and I will pray for those impacted. Thank you for the support – it may take some time, but I think I’m on the healing path. To be covered with prayer is a gift I don’t take lightly. xox
It’s all lovely to me but what always garners my attention first in rooms like this is the white painted wood floors. I guess I see white floors first, because we are contemplating doing that someday in our LR, kitchen/dining area and hallway after removing the carpet.
Yes! I have lived with white floors and do love them when they are imperfectly rustic. Otherwise, I can imagine being a slave to them. It’s not at all like living with white tile and grout which can feel so institutional. What fun to dream about them for your floor’s next look! 🙂
Yes please – I love that term -the art of undecorating. So simple,so relaxing ,so peaceful and just so darn cute too.
