On that tour of the sweet little Frank Lloyd Wright house in my neck of the woods, I took you with me back to 1951, and today we’re going to stay in Midcentury Modern-ville…sort of. I have a collection of decor inspiration from relaxed spaces with bohemian decor, black and white neutral color schemes, and mostly Midcentury-modern style design elements added in. These bohemian rooms take me back to the hippie-ish 70’s when the Eagles ruled radio, some of my friends painted their rooms fluorescent colors (my classy mom was not having it), we hardly ever wore shoes away from school, and everyone was appliqueing their jeans.
Instead of a restrained use of Midcentury-modern furniture and accessories and a strictly shabby boho look, we’ll see a very loose, sometimes luxe, and fresh interpretation of the style. We have been studying the interior design of Leanne Ford quite a bit on this blog lately for good reason. The designer (and star of HGTV’s RESTORED BY THE FORDS which is filming episodes for season 2 now!) masterfully mixes vintage with modern in a way that seems achievable for any budget. Not to mention, her interiors always feature some layer of cool and youthfulness that she creates with edgy art, interesting collections, and rustic chic.
EVEN IF THIS DESIGN STYLE IS NOT YOUR CUP O’ TEA, I ENCOURAGE YOU TO BROWSE THE COLLECTION TO DISCOVER SOMETHING UNEXPECTED…it’s what I love about this field of interior design and creatives who often throw in a surprise. 🙂
I’m wired for words and just couldn’t resist adding hand-lettered inspiring quotes in black and white for good measure!
