Leanne Ford Interior Design Inspiration {Bohemian, Vintage, Minimal Decor}

You may have seen interior designer Leanne Ford on TV since she stars in the HGTV series RESTORED BY THE FORDS, and you may have seen her design work in Country Living or GQ or within a bunch of other shelter magazines, but I started following her work last year when a stylish friend instructed me to! After working with Leanne on a few magazine shoots, she knew I would fall for Leanne’s world of lovely cool chic in her interior design portfolio. (Photo at top: Alexandra Ribar, via Rip and Tan)

White on white is this Pittsburgh and LA based designer’s signature (Go team, White Paint!), and her rooms look deliciously underbaked, uncontrived, and as if they evolved slowly over time. Good lord, get ready to PIN if you appreciate warm luxurious minimal with edgy cool modern farmhouse style mixed in. IS THE DECOR TOO EDGY FOR YOU? Because this blogging fairy loves all the music and rock and roll in it. Interesting and varied vintage treasures are casually yet artfully massed on shelves and in vignettes. You are pulled to keep studying them. Remember the fashionable London apartment of  Thornton and Bregazzi I shared back in 2010? Leanne’s work seems reminiscent of their uniquely appointed and fashion-forward, 3-story Victorian in North Kensington.

What you will discover after viewing this collection of her work is a preference for airy dining chairs (and Midcentury wire chairs), chunky rugged farmhouse tables, cool vintage photos and art, white brick, black and white, barn style and Sputnik lighting, white painted walls and wood, and collected wonky vintage objects. The objects styled by Ford look lightly zhushed and happy, as if they are truly admired and regularly put into use, as if they were placed lovingly by kind intuitive hands that were maybe also holding a glass of wine at the time.

Leanne has a passion for reviving old houses and the intelligence to listen to their whisperings. One can tell she spends time in the spaces to consider how beauty, function, and comfort will be interpreted. She even sort of collects random houses (ahem…sound vaguely familiar?). This luxurious minimal decor loving, edgy cool stylemaker whose paintbrush seems to eternally drip white has captured my imagination…

Then I read the interview Leanne Ford did with Jenni Kayne’s Rip and Tan, where I discovered even more to admire about her transparency and charming authenticity. For example, here is how she got her start in the design biz…and keep in mind, she is now starring in her own show!:

“When I finally had a house I owned, I of course did it up. That house ended up being featured in *Country Living Magazine*, and that article started my career. People started calling me to design their houses and offices and restaurants. I called my very successful Interior Design friend, Dan Mazzarini, up from grade school and said “What do I need to know to be an interior designer?” I think I got about four years of education in about 45 minutes.” ~Leanne Ford

How amazing is that? I also learned from that interview Leanne religiously listens to folk singer Josh Ritter so maybe you’ll want to enjoy listening to a sampling of Ms. Ford’s daily soundtrack as you peruse the lovely she styles (the longing expressed in the lyrics of “When Will I Be Changed” is so beautiful and speaks to me).

Let’s peek at Leanne Ford magic.

    One of her quotes is “white is the pause in the poem” and I think that captures it all.
    She is a national treasure for design.
    How fun to win the lottery and give her full reign on a house with Swedish white.
