We have been devouring the design details and decorating ideas from Sarah Richardson’s new off the grid home in Ontario, and today I’m offering an EXCLUSIVE source guide for a few key home decor pieces Sarah incorporated in her family’s living room and adjacent sun room. Even though you’ll perhaps be able to discover resource guides for Sarah Richardson’s new off-the-grid home floating around the internet, in most cases, I have found the links and item names to be either inaccurate or not up to date (perhaps the Canadian Wayfair sources and American Wayfair sources don’t always synch up?).
Hello Lovely to the rescue! Your busy resident blog fairy has personally scoured, checked and double-checked sources to locate either the exact item or worthy approximations. For example, I haven’t yet located the exact sconce Sarah used near the accent cabinet, but Aidan Gray offers gorgeous sconces with a similar European inspired, elegant feel.
Sarah’s living room and sun room has a classic traditional style, and what I think makes it so special is the space’s approachable elegance. It is worth taking the time to view the video below where Sarah Richardson discusses her living room philosophy (if you can’t touch it or put your feet up, why have it?). The living room and sun room spaces in Sarah’s off-the grid family home contain a plethora of fresh ideas; from the charming conversation/game areas to the cozy wood stove area in the sun room, perfect for enjoying a little warmth with your winter sunshine. I was thrilled to see how she went big on the fireplace as the scale really demands attention and introduces that sexy marble. Whether you are a traditionalist or more eclectic, I’m sure you agree it’s refreshing to see this beautiful focal point without the big black TV box over the mantell. Even though I’m a huge fan of hushed and neutral, I do think I would prefer to see some pretty pops of aqua or pink in here with all these beautiful linens and nubby textiles. Maybe Sarah is showing us how to create a neutral backdrop which can then change with the seasons.
What makes Sarah Richardson’s off-the-grid house living room and sun room so special? Fresh classic style + Approachable elegance
