Choosing Tables for Our Arizona Fixer Upper {Decor Inspiration}

Choosing tables for the Arizona Fixer Upper

I hope you are in the mood for decor inspiration,

ideas for choosing LOVELY TABLES, and peeks of

my décor progress at our fixer upper in Arizona,
where I’ll be heading soon for finishing touches.

Do you like this vintage dining table and chairs

I made over with plaster-y paint and beautiful

linen fabrics designed by Rachel Ashwell?

The table is French inspired and has the feminine, sculptural,
Paris romance I favor going on…it was originally
pale yellow with a dark brown top.

I used three of my favorite Shabby Chic Couture fabrics,

all of which are hushed with a faded, chambray, natural

blue that is so beautiful in person, I can’t even!

Moving into the master, finding side tables has not

been easy with my limited budget and desire to keep

this space light as a feather and breezy, so I opted

to add these $20 “placeholder tables” (below) from

Ikea as my hunt for the right vintage pieces continues.

While these side tables don’t provide storage,

they do the job for holding a lamp to read by.

If you follow me on instagram (dude! follow me!),

you may remember on my last trip to the dessert,

I created art, including this black and white panel below.

Maybe you noticed too that we paneled this wall

behind the bed (still need a headboard or proper bed!).

You may remember the strong orange statement

the wall made when we bought the place last year

It turned out to be a beautiful subtle statement I’ll

share soon in case you have statement wall

dreams of your own.

This room receives gorgeous natural light and a

view of mountains and the dessert wash, and

for now I placed this antiqued silver accent table

near the window…the perfect perch for a refreshing drink.

Moving into the living room, I have been

keeping my eyes peeled for a vintage coffee

table and for side tables and not having luck.

Choosing tables for this space

is turning out to be harder than

I thought, mainly because I live so far

away from the project and can’t just lug

things home or shop online and try them out.

I still love the RH industrial coffee table in our primary home.

But I’m not sure I want the table to be as rustic in the

Arizona living room, which I want to feel

airy, serene, and more Nordic French.

(Last time we were there, my aunt helped me

create custom linen pillow covers I may use

on the two sofas…she is an

incredible quilter and seamstress, and I will

be adding finishing hand stitching to them,

but for now here is a peek at progress.)

Choosing a coffee table and side tables for the living room
needs to happen so I can begin enjoying the house!

Do you have an easy time choosing tables?

Some ideas floating around in the noggin…

this modern coffee table with its sculptural, antique gold,

base is calling my name with its oval polished

top, reminiscent of a beachy surfboard.
I think it would also feel right in a Paris apartment.

I’m drifting off tangent, but don’t you love

surfboards as art too?

I also like the idea of a round cocktail table in the room.

My sister has a fabulous huge rattan table in her

Chicago living room you may have noticed me

lounging on in my ode to pajamas post.

(She typically does not allow grown women

to plop their tushes on her cocktail table!).

Here’s an oval table with a similar beachy vibe.

That’s progress!

Hope you found some inspiration from the

lovelies I shared.

Wish me luck as I am in the homestretch

to finish up our Arizona makeover!

I love the Drosset table too, but not as much as I love your blog, I can get lost going from post to post . It so calming and just carries you away for just a little bit everyday. Thanks –also just wondering how I can comment using just my name without having to sign up to Google or WordPress etc.?

thanks for the kind words! i'm so happy to hear it. blogging can be lonely, so i love hearing from you. i'm not sure why you are not permitted to submit your name only, and i think others simply sign their name after the comment to compensate so feel free to do that! it seems these days, more folks just email me with their comments, so that's an option too. 🙂

Totally loving the types of tables that work well as conversation starters! They work well as tables and are visually interesting to look at!

    • July 18, 2017 / 4:05 pm

Exactly! we often overlook a coffee table as art or conversation starter. 🙂
