You may be surprised to see where interior designer

Annie Smith (formerly Annie Brahler) now resides

since it is such a huge departure, style-wise, from

the beyond shabby chic mansion in Illinois

which she and her firm Euro Trash made famous.

Her current home is what she calls

“a floating treehouse.”

Let’s revisit the Euro country dining room

of her prior Beaux Arts home

before we tour the new St. Louis digs.

Annie Brahler is now Annie Smith, and she

and husband Charles Smith live in a unique midcentury

modern style home near St. Louis, where Euro Trash

is now based.

1949 St. Louis home of architect Robert Elkington

The home was being marketed as a tear down,

but Brahler and Smith learned it was designed by

an important architect (Robert Elkington) and built

in 1949 on three wooded acres.

The interior design inside?

Get ready for:

High contrast glamour

Midcentury Modern design

Taxidermy décor

Metal kitchen cabinets painted black

Chapman vintage chandelier

Grey-veined Danby marble

A vintage airplane engine

Jonathan Adler sofa and chairs

1940s cast brass deer

A bifurcated table sliced from a tree

What makes this design project even more amazing

are the existing photos of this 1949 Robert Elkington

home back in the day we can contrast with

its updated design today.

Such mid-modern deliciousness plus glitzy glamour thrown in for good measure! Wow, very original. I especially love the kitchen and gallery wall. xo Holly
