DIY: My STENCILED MIRROR Project

Royally thrilled with my new Springtime in Paris stencil from Royal Design Stencils that I used on an old mirror. It took about 10 minutes to transform the ho-hum mirror below with this gorgeous script-y stencil a little house paint.

DIY: My STENCILED MIRROR Project

Doesn’t it look chic now?

Melanie Royals is the artist behind Royal Design Stencils, and her designs are classic and sophisticated.

Hello Lovely Studio

Stencils can be used in a subtle, understated manner and result in an effect that appears freehand.

And think beyond your walls…mirrors, furniture, canvas, rugs, floors, doors, and more!

I’m truly not afraid of painting anything.

The band around the sisal rug began life as an ugly ugly green.

Bella (reflected in mirror above) is sort of an exhibitionist.

This is my husband’s home office, and I propped the mirror here since the light was lovely.

No special materials required: Stencil, masking tape, paintbrush (pounce it!), and some latex paint.

So I covered one of mine too.

okay…it’s not as subtle as this in person.

It’s a subtle effect which is what I wanted in this relaxing monochromatic bath.

A stenciled poem ’round the corner adds ‘un peu’ french flavor without reading too trendy.

But guess what?

If it begins to feel tired?

About 10 minutes of rolling paint over it…and BAM.

PAINT IS LeBOMB, MADEMOISELLE.

a few options from Royal Design Stencils

If you haven’t tried a stencil project…it’s soooooo easy and so economical versus wallpaper so go for it!

It looks gorgeous! I love that you are thinking beyond walls for stencils. It looks amazing on the mirror. And I can't believe you painted around the sisal rug! You did an amazing job. 🙂

Liking this very much Michele! I first saw script on mirrors about a year ago and put it into that 'must do' basket we all have.
Loving how soft & pretty but oh so chic your mirror is now.
    Best wishes Kerry

I have never stenciled onto a mirror and LOOOOOOOVE it. What kind of paint did you use? I absolutely love this and will definitely make one of my own. Thank you so much for sharing at Savvy HomeMade Monday!

    Oh, my inspiring M!

It's a fantastic idea! Your mirror is stunning! I also like the idea of using this instead of wallpaper, for being more economical and even more personalized.

Your home is always impeccable and Bella is always so cute!

Have a great day, my pretty friend w/ cute toes! 🙂

    @Luciane
in my dreams, our home is impeccable! it is a big ol mess at the moment with the reno downstairs and everything else in transition.

i think that's why a quick project like these two really lifted my spirits and helped me feel as though SOMETHING could be accomplished.

    🙂

So so pretty. I love the design you picked out, and the way you did it almost tone on tone… it's very subtle and soft. And… nice toes you have there girl 🙂

I like it lots and lots!! Plus, if ever I'm feeling rather vain/self-conscious then I can pretend to be reading that poem while fiddling with my hair!! Perfect all round!!

Hi Michele…I just used Melanie's stencil as well (have to tell her too!) at a Designer Showhouse in Centerport NY (on Long Island). I did mine on a wall – coupled with her Florentine Corner stencil. I just love how versatile this stencil is – you can use it anywhere. I have to try it on a mirror as you did. Wonderful project!

    Michele, I am
    love
    love
    LOVING
    this!!! I painted
    a large damask
    stencil in my
    powder room last
    winter and it was
    a big undertaking,
    but the script seems
    a teensy bit easier?
    As a word afficianado,
    I've got to check
    this out….so cool.
    Your wall looks great,
    as does the mirror.
    Thanks for sharing
    the love!
    xx Suzanne
