Home Tour: Charming Country Cottage in Texas by Holly Matthis

Is it just me, or is Texas simply overflowing

with beautiful design talent?

Exhibit A: Holly Matthis.

Designer Holly Matthis may have moved on from

the charming cottage in Brenham, Texas,

you see here (she is creating yet another

beautiful home with her family), but I think it’s

worth savoring a little longer.

I’m including some home decor items that feel

like they may be at home in this cottage.

Paloma Pillow, Autumn

Holly Matthis rented this home for a season,

infusing it with style on a budget.

Country Living took note, and

I loved reading the story of

how she stretched her

decor dollars.

For instance, the designer chose to simply

skip a rug under the dining table

(it would have been easy for

her to simply style this space

with a borrowed one

for the magazine shoot, and

no one would be the wiser;

instead, she was honest

about the absence of the rug!).

So much to learn from this smart

creative’s style and forthright,

vulnerable integrity.

I’ll have to do some digging…it looks like it could be similar to Benjamin Moore’s Horizon or Classic Gray. Peace to you, Roseanna.
