If staying at a palace in Paris should
ever appear on your bucket list,
here is a lovely one that will deliver.
I knew it would be exclusive.
And posh. And fabulous.
But I could not fully
appreciate their 'luxury is personal'
concept until I experienced it at the
Park Hyatt Paris Vendome.
Designed by Ed Tuttle,
Park Hyatt Paris Vendome
is located in the heart of this grand city...
near the Opera and Place Vendome.
Located on Rue de la Paix (Street of Peace),
think 'haven' and 'comforting urban retreat'
with amenities like a spa, gourmet dining,
and even complimentary bikes.
And the rooms are to die for.
All the furniture is handmade.
Polished mahogany walls.
French windows (we opened them
frequently to the glorious courtyard).
Bronze sculptures (by Roseline Granet) adorn
sconces and door hardware.
The room functioned beautifully with electric shades,
comfy bed, beverage station, and large desk area.
The bathroom has spoiled me forever.
Heated limestone everywhere, two large
sink areas, and a seriously spacious and
powerful rain shower and soaking tub.
The Park Hyatt Vendome hired famed
parfumeur Blaise Mautin to develop
the signature fragrance of the hotel
and toiletries for which I went insane.
It smells understated and mysterious.
It's the scent of well-being.
It's vanilla and woodsy and magic
with top secret sexy ingredients.
Re: Sticker Shock
There are lovely hotels in Paris which cost less.
When planning our visit, we decided
to splurge on a shorter stay at the PHV
rather than opt for more time at a mediocre hotel...
and unless money is no object, you may want
to test out this philosophy for yourself,
whether your rendezvous is in Paris or not.
We also knew this particular visit would not center
on food or expensive dinners so we put
those dollars toward luxe accommodations
and lived like royalty (for a little while)
to make memories for a lifetime.
Back to posh-liciousness.
The sink areas are not close to each other,
and I snagged this one for mine...do I really have
to explain the splendor of applying makeup
here in natural light with open windows
welcoming fresh air and birdsong?
I let my beloved sleep in and took my own sweet time, mama.
It's Paris! Of course there are a few:
Le spa is one...very romantic, and I loved every bit
of the complimentary luxuriating.
Blaise Mautin is another...these signature
products are available only for a few PHs.
If you must take it home, you can purchase
a room spray or candle from the front desk only.
Les Orchidees (which I will blog more about soon)
is an incredible spot for an elegant breakfast
or lunch, allowing you to experience a measure
of PH magic even if you are not a hotel guest.
If you google the hotel, you will see it is a
favorite of many celebrities and lil' ol'
writers like your friend here.

Who is checking in with me next time?
Who likes the scent of well-being and wants a sniff of
Blaise Mautin leftover shampoo?
Anyone care to smack me for gushing
about silken duvets and snapping ten times
more pics here than of the Louvre?
